Stories grew up in this update. Photos, videos and recordings now go straight into a story as you tell it, and a tap opens the story on its own page, with Edit there when you want to change something. New · Give a story a location and it shows up on the map · Stories and weddings can be dated to the day, not only the year · Move and scale a portrait: pick the part of the photo that shows, and the tree, the card and the map all use it. The photo itself is never cropped, so you can reframe it any time, and one group picture can give everyone their own face · Search by name in "Who is in this story" Fixed · A birthplace written as just a country ("Russia", say) is now placed at its capital, not somewhere else

The Family Atlas now tells the whole move: where someone was born, and where they later settled — generations of footsteps, drawn as one line. New · Your in-laws finally appear, on the same terms as your own side · Places now include China's counties and the main cities of the US and Canada; anything else, your phone can look up on the spot · Two new styles: Peach Bloom and Neon Circuit · The walkthrough gained a step that zooms in for you, so you can read a kinship term and a birthday · Importing a long video shows a frame with a progress ring, and an X in its corner that calls the whole thing off Fixed · Deleting now really deletes. A photo, a recording or a video takes its file with it and the space comes back. Anything left behind by an older version is cleared the first time you open this one · Deleting what you are looking at closes it; recordings could not be deleted at all before · Deleting a story asks first

A guided first look The first time you open Zuying, right after you pick a style, it walks you through — with a sample family, so you can see how the tree reads, what fits on a card, and what the map and the family atlas are for. Skipping is fine; Settings can start it again whenever you like. Plus some fixes and small improvements.
