It quietly watches what's playing, then writes you talking points — source-backed track context when available, the mood of the moment, or an icebreaker for chat — in the voice of the on-air persona you choose. You read them, riff on them, or ignore them. You stay the host; Backsell just makes sure you're never stuck for words.

AI THAT'S ALREADY IN THE BOX
Backsell includes an open-weight language model, so it writes on your Mac from the moment you install it. No account, no sign-up, no network — put the machine in airplane mode and it still works. On macOS 26 or later it can use Apple Intelligence on-device as well.
FOR PEOPLE WHO RUN THEIR OWN MODELS
Backsell can also hand the writing to a model server instead — one running on your Mac, or any server address you already use. You enter the address, model name, and access token if that server needs one; the token stays in the macOS Keychain. This is entirely optional, and nothing in Backsell is locked behind it.
Before a request leaves your Mac you explicitly allow that one connection to receive the current track title and artist, persona settings, and prompt instructions. Permission for one connection never authorizes another, and you can turn each one off at any time.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No Backsell account. No analytics. No tracking. Nothing runs through our servers, because there are none. Prompts stay on your Mac unless you point Backsell at a server yourself, in which case they go straight to the address you entered.

Recognition, personas, and talking-point generation stay free, permanently, with no trial timer. Backsell Pro is an optional one-time purchase that adds the workflows a working show needs:
• Show prep — write your whole setlist before you go on air, so every card is ready the moment the track changes.
• Your own persona — the built-in personas are somebody else's voice. Write yours.
• Show presets — save a full setup and switch between shows in one click.
• Send to OBS — put the current line on screen through an OBS text source.
• DJ transitions across adjacent decks.
Pro does not change the AI. The model and the writing quality are exactly the same whether you buy it or not.
Apple Intelligence requires a compatible Mac with macOS 26 or later and Apple Intelligence turned on. On every other Mac, Backsell's included model does the writing. Backsell supports Apple Music notifications, manual entry, setlist import, and an optional read-only Serato connector.
