Imanani is a super-simple messaging app that feels like a Heisei-era pager. You can send only 12 kana characters. No read receipts, no likes, no stickers, no timeline. You connect only with the one person you exchanged a pair code with. ONLY 12 KANA, DELIVERED Type kana with the familiar flick keyboard, line them up on the green LCD, and hit SEND. When a message comes in, the app beeps, the LED blinks, and the LCD flashes. Even a few seconds of delay feels right, like a signal arriving from far away.
