Faster with big photos: the canvas and thumbnails stay responsive with a pile of large, high-resolution pictures. Tight, Even and Airy now spread a big Fan differently, however many pictures it holds. Option rows in the inspector line up with their labels, sit a little closer together, and fade at an edge when there's more to scroll.

Mosaic sets a grid edge to edge: each picture fills its own cell, with no gaps and no captions in between. Image Aspect crops every picture to the same shape — square, 4:3, 16:10 or 9:16 — in Grid, Fan and Solo alike. Canvas Aspect, which shapes the whole picture, now works in Grid too. Titles and captions can be set in Sans, Serif or Round, and Text Size reaches larger than before, with new documents starting at Medium. The inspector is grouped into Canvas, Images and Text, with the title and caption fields beside the settings that style them. In Solo, a picture follows the backdrop and text color set for Grid and Fan until you give it its own. VoiceOver and Voice Control can reach every control, and PicPile follows Larger Text, Increase Contrast, Reduce Motion and Differentiate Without Color. Undo and Redo sit in the toolbar, and Paste is in the Add menu.

PicPile for iPhone and iPad now shares one engine with the Mac app, so everything below arrives at once. Fan is a new way to arrange a pile. Your pictures spread out from a shared hinge below the stack, each one turned a little further than the last and overlapping its neighbor. Fan carries its own title and subtitle, set into the open space inside the arc rather than on any single picture. Backdrops can be a picture now, not only a color, filling the canvas and cropped to cover. Turn the backdrop off entirely and the exported picture keeps its transparency. Transparent areas show as a checkerboard in the preview, a dashed frame marks the precise edges of the exported picture, and the inspector shows its size in pixels. Text Size sets how large titles and captions render, Small through Large, with the air around the type scaling to match. Aspect fits the whole canvas to a square, 4:3, 16:10 or 9:16, in Solo and in Fan alike. On iPhone the style inspector opens at half height, so the picture you are adjusting stays in view while you work, and the layout switch floats above the thumbnail strip.
