New: play video from an SMB share/NAS, an A/V Sync control, an Audio Effect toggle, and Background Audio so launching AnalogTV won't stop your music.
Turn your Apple TV into a glowing analog television.
AnalogTV is a real-time analog broadcast simulator: every picture is built from an actual composite video signal encoded, sent down a simulated RF path, and drawn
onto a virtual CRT with scanlines, phosphor glow, bloom and tube geometry. Nothing is faked with filters.
• TEST CARDS: the classics, faithfully reproduced: SMPTE & EBU colour bars, the Philips PM5544, BBC Test Card F, RCA Indian Head, USAF-1951 and more.
• TELETEXT: a genuine SAA5050 teletext interface, the same character generator used by Ceefax and ORACLE. Browse the whole app as nested teletext pages, or leave a ticking teletext clock on the wall.
• VINTAGE LOOKS: nine curated era "rooms", from a 1950s Rediffusion set to 1990s Hi-Vision, each with its own noise, colour, bloom and scanline character.
• PLEX: sign in with a PIN and watch your Plex library through the same analog pipeline as everything else.
• STREAMS & LIVE VIDEO: pipe FTP, SFTP, SMB, HLS or RTSP streams and IPTV (M3U) playlists through the analog pipeline, with pause, rewind and fast-forward on the Siri Remote, or receive NDI sources from your network.
• NDI: Watch streaming NDI sources with BYPASS mode if you want the source without any effects
• PLAY: a rack of built-in arcade games rendered through the same authentic signal path.
• AMBIENT MODE: a screen saver that leaves a teletext clock, snow, or colour bars glowing on your TV.
• SEND TO APPLE TV: push a saved look straight from the iPhone or Mac app over the local network, and sync your look library across devices with iCloud.
Designed for the 10-foot experience: the whole thing is a set of nested teletext pages you drive with the Siri Remote, with on-screen settings for overscan, picture
fit, sound and the screen saver.
Ratings & Reviews
This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
New: play video from an SMB (Windows/NAS) share
There is now an SMB source alongside the FTP and SFTP browsers. From the
menu, choose Streams, then Browse SMB, to connect to a Windows file share or
a NAS and play video files straight off it. Enter the host, share name,
username and password; saved connections are kept in the Keychain and
persist between launches. There is a saved-connections list, a browse and
rename and delete page, and a folder browser, matching the existing FTP and
SFTP screens. Confirmed working on a real Apple TV against a live NAS.
New: don't interrupt Apple Music or a podcast
Launching AnalogTV used to stop whatever else was already playing, even with
Sound off. Sound off now genuinely means the app won't take over audio, and
there is a new Background Audio setting for finer control over mixing with
other apps.
New: A/V Sync
Settings now has an A/V Sync control, next to Sound and Volume, for
correcting a fixed lead or lag between picture and audio on a source that is
itself slightly out of sync.
New: Audio Effect toggle
Settings now has an Audio Effect switch to turn the analog audio processing
(hum, buzz, tape effects) on or off independently of the picture.
Changed: the default test card is now PM5544 instead of SMPTE colour bars.
Fixed: applying a Look from the gallery no longer changes your source or
knocks you out of the Looks list.
Fixed: the FTP, SFTP and SMB connect screens no longer lose the field name
on the fullscreen keyboard, and the SMB connection form no longer clips its
Save button off screen.
Fixed: SMB video playback now has the same smooth audio sync as SFTP.
