Keystrokes never leave your Mac — nothing is stored, nothing is sent. Just a beautiful overlay your viewers can actually read. Keypress shows what you type as real mechanical keycaps, right on your screen. Built for the moment someone else is watching: a screen share, a live stream, a conference talk, a recorded tutorial. Your keystrokes never leave your Mac. Nothing is stored, nothing is transmitted, nothing is logged. Keypress only draws the key you just pressed and forgets it. INVISIBLE UNTIL YOU TYPE There is no window and no Dock icon. The overlay fades in when you press a key and disappears when you stop. It is click-through, so it never blocks the app underneath — you can present, code and drag windows straight through it. TWO WAYS TO SHOW KEYS Single mode displays one shortcut at a time, replacing it as you go — made for teaching shortcuts. History mode queues up recent keys so viewers can follow you typing a whole line. Single mode can hide plain letters and show only combinations that include a modifier. MADE TO MATCH YOUR PICTURE Three keycap styles: Mechanical with real 3D depth and shadow, Flat for a modern look, Minimal for compact pills. Four built-in color schemes, or build your own — ten key categories, each with its own color, depth, corner radius, shadow and style. Light and dark schemes can follow macOS automatically. PUT IT WHERE IT BELONGS Eight positions — four corners and four edge centers — with fine offset control away from the screen edge. Pick which display the overlay appears on, so it lands on the screen you are actually sharing. Size and opacity are adjustable. STAYS OUT OF THE WAY Lives in the menu bar. A global hotkey (⇧⌘K by default, and rebindable) toggles the overlay mid-call without touching your window layout. Optional launch at login. Keys fade after a timeout you choose. WORKS IN YOUR LANGUAGE Keys are read from your active keyboard layout, so Cyrillic, German umlauts and other layouts display the character you actually typed, not an English guess. REQUIREMENTS Keypress needs Input Monitoring permission to see which keys are pressed. macOS will ask on first launch. Caps Lock is not supported — macOS does not report it reliably.
