Now there is an opponent your child can actually beat. • Every character plays at its own level — Peep really does play like a beginner now. • You can see which is which: the characters are ordered easiest first, each with its level. • The difficulty setting nudges your chosen character one step gentler or sharper.

Playing online with a friend just got much easier. • Instead of matching you with a stranger, the app asks who you want to play. • Everyone you have played before is right there — one tap to play again. • Friends who do not have Mallang Chess yet can be sent a link. Plus small improvements throughout. We are always making chess more fun to learn.

Online games are now saved to Review, so you can step back through them move by move. Winning one also earns Eggy his flag.

You can now dress Eggy up from Settings on iPad too, and a Korean line left over on the English screens has been fixed.

Eggy has started receiving presents! • Beat a character for the first time and they give you something — a crown from Leo, a party hat from Peep, a graduation cap from Mir, a cape from Tori, a white belt from Chichi, a wand from Lupin. • Puzzles and online games earn the wig, the flag and the trophy. Dress him up from Settings. • Whatever he wears shows up everywhere he does — the home screen, the referee's calls, hints and chat. • Eggy now explains castling and en passant: tap the rook or the pawn and he shows you what to do on the board.

A big update for online play. • A games list: who you are playing, whose move it is, when it started and last moved — with games in progress kept apart from finished ones. • Chat, with Eggy emotes to say hello, laugh, or ask for a move. Your opponent is notified even with the app closed. • The app tells you when a game is waiting for you, and one tap takes you back into it. • Both players' pictures and colours on the board. • Fixes for moves that never reached the opponent, games where both sides waited forever, and a board that stayed behind after leaving.

Mallang Chess now speaks English. Menus, puzzle explanations and every character's chatter are translated, and the Korean text left over on iPad has been cleaned up.
