Explore the first phrase in each Practice chapter and all Travel essentials for free, including hiragana, katakana and money basics. Eligible new subscribers can try AI conversation with a seven-day free trial.
Completed reviews, retained memory, history controls and learning progress remain available without Plus. Tako Talk Plus includes AI conversation and access to every phrasebook chapter and quiz. Complete Phrasebook is also available as a one-time purchase for permanent phrasebook access; it does not include AI conversation. Available plans, prices, billing periods, and any introductory offer are shown before purchase using information provided by the App Store. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings and restore eligible purchases in the app.
Tako Talk uses generative AI, so responses can occasionally be inaccurate. It is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not a substitute for professional advice.

Tako now follows your saved name and conversation style more consistently. Start with polite standard Japanese, or switch between Polite and Casual with one tap on the Talk screen.
Find past conversations with the new History button. Reviews opened from History or Stamps now share the same layout and learning tools as the review after a conversation.
