Recording video selfies with the iPhone’s rear cameras gives you great image quality and more focal-length options. It also helps you focus on your words without being distracted by your face. They’re the perfect cameras for a higher-quality vlog!
However, without access to the screen, recording video selfies with the rear cameras isn’t as easy as with the front-facing camera:
- The Record button is no longer visible or easy to tap.
- You can’t see your face to keep it in frame.
- Gripping your phone comfortably is harder. The screen is on the back, and a full grip can accidentally tap the Record button and stop your recording.
- The screen faces the world and displays your recording, which can make you feel more self-conscious.
Vloggie makes recording rear-camera selfies just as easy as using the front camera:
- Recording starts automatically when your face is in frame, so you no longer need the Record button.
- When recording with an external microphone, haptic feedback helps you stay in frame. If you don’t have a microphone, you can turn on haptic feedback unconditionally, and lower its intensity to reduce its effect on the audio.
- Screen controls are disabled while recording, and stopping requires a deliberate swipe gesture.
- The video preview hides when your face is recognized. No more showing everyone your work in progress!
Video capture is also optimized for vlogging, with extensive capture settings combinations that take advantage of the iPhone’s powerful rear cameras.
