RefRo: Reference Rover

Mood boards & visual research

Free

Capture inspiration from Photos, scans or Safari. Keep references and source links together, organize collections, and review presentations wherever you work. Collect inspiration privately, keep the source and context with every image, and turn your visual research into mood boards and presentations. RefRo—short for Reference Rover—is a visual research workspace for designers, artists, and other image-led creatives, now on iPhone and iPad. Keep references, products, and presentations connected with the RefRo library on your Mac through private iCloud sync. Capture new images on the go, edit their details, browse projects, and refine mood boards wherever ideas find you. CAPTURE AND ORGANIZE • Create projects and collections and add references from Photos • Scan research images with the camera • Paste images and source links copied from Safari • Add product images, names, retailers, prices, notes, and source links • Edit titles, categories, tags, creator, location, period, rights, and attribution • Keep changes available across Mac, iPhone, and iPad through iCloud BUILD PRESENTATIONS BY TOUCH • Create and browse multi-page presentations • Move, resize, and rotate images and text directly on the canvas • Work with layers and page controls designed for touch • Review compositions away from the desk • Draw directly on pages with Apple Pencil or touch A COMPANION, NOT A SHRUNKEN MAC APP RefRo uses a mobile-first interface for quick capture, project review, product updates, and tactile presentation work. The Mac app remains the full research and export studio; iPhone and iPad keep the same library close at hand. Your research stays in your private iCloud library. RefRo has no advertising, behavioral tracking, subscriptions, or separate required account.

RefRo has a new look across Mac, iPhone and iPad, with clearer research cards, collections, reference details and light and dark appearances. Collect research images from scans and paste images or source links from Safari on mobile. On Mac, presentation editing adds more direct design controls, background color pickers, slide sections and slide links. Open speaker notes beside a slide, present full screen, and export a PDF with or without notes. This update also improves scanned-image previews, image export and the app icon.
