The acceleration of a high-speed train.
The grade of a mountain route.
See your rail journey through numbers.
AVECT is a real-time ride monitor for observing how your train moves. Follow speed changes, lateral G, altitude, and grade alongside the view from your window.
WATCH YOUR TRAIN IN MOTION
See speed, its average rate of change over two seconds, and lateral G. Follow departures, acceleration, deceleration, and stops. Speed change rate describes changes in estimated speed; it is not longitudinal G measured by the IMU or a detection of traction and brake commands.
CHOOSE YOUR UNITS
Select km/h, mph or kt for main speed, and m or ft for main altitude. The speedometer, scale and speed change rate follow your choice, with secondary units retained. Open SETTINGS for units and GUIDE. CSV units stay fixed.
FOLLOW YOUR JOURNEY BETWEEN STATIONS
On supported railway lines in Japan, see nearby stations, the stations before and after you, and estimated progress between them. Station names are shown in Japanese. Interstation distances are estimates along the bundled track data, not official railway distances or arrival predictions. The nearest-station-only display uses straight-line distance.
OBSERVE CLIMBS AND DESCENTS
GNSS and pressure changes support altitude, vertical speed, and grade readings. Altitude calculation needs no online maps or elevation data. The altitude card identifies GNSS, pressure support or HOLD. When conditions are insufficient or cabin-pressure disturbances are suspected, the grade display may hold its previous value with HOLD or show “—”.
SAVE YOUR RIDE AS CSV
Start a recording to save speed, position, speed changes, altitude, grade, station information, and reception/device status. Open saved CSV files in Files and review them in a spreadsheet app. Recordings include latitude and longitude.
GNSS WITH IMU SUPPORT
GNSS (satellite positioning) provides the speed reference. When conditions allow, the IMU (inertial sensors) helps track departures and speed changes. During temporary GNSS interruptions, AVECT can continue estimating speed within the limits of its last reliable reference. When there is insufficient evidence, it shows “—”.
PROCESSED ON YOUR DEVICE
Location and sensor data are processed on your device. No app account or ads. Journey data is not automatically sent to a server. You choose when to record and where to share your CSV files.
ABOUT THE READINGS
You can also enjoy the displays as a passenger on aircraft, boats, and in cars. Available readings and the duration of speed estimation during GNSS interruptions depend on device placement, sensors, and reception.
Altitude is a reference value and may differ from surveyed elevation or accurate altitude above sea level. When pressure altitude diverges greatly from trustworthy GNSS altitude, as can happen in aircraft cabins, GNSS takes priority. If GNSS then becomes unstable or unavailable, altitude is held. Readings depend on satellite reception.
AVECT is a reference tool for observing movement. Do not use it for driving, piloting, navigation, surveying, or operational decisions.
FREE TRIAL AND SUBSCRIPTION

Ratings & Reviews
This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
AVECT 1.2.4 updates grade estimation to use the same altitude changes as the fused altitude display.
- Continuous altitude changes used by FUSED ALT now also inform grade estimates over traveled distance.
- Corrections to the GNSS altitude reference are kept separate from actual climbs and descents when calculating grade.
- Grade shows “—” when there is insufficient evidence of altitude change or travel distance.
- RELIABILITY is steadier across regular GNSS updates while remaining responsive to important drops in the estimate's reliability.
