The type is bigger. Every screen reads more easily. • Text sizes are back on Apple's own scale — the collection, chat, setlists and prices all with it. • The tab bar no longer rides up onto the keyboard, and your recent searches are not hidden behind it. • Picking a record from "See all" sometimes started no search at all. Fixed. • The dig feed's front page is drawn fresh every day, so records that sat too far down now come up. • A published setlist has a share button — hand it to anyone from there. Long titles show more of themselves. • A measured BPM is simply written down. No list of candidates to choose from. • An eBay link could point at a different record. Fixed. • A listen button could say "no video" when it had only been refused. It now says so and can be pressed again.

Setlists now record the track, not the record it came off. • A 7" used to go in under its A-side and an LP under the album, so a night that ended on the B-side did not say so. You now pick the track, and both the setlist and the listen button follow it. • Adding a track opens the record and shows its tracks, each with its own BPM and how far it is from the last thing you placed. The crate is ordered by the closest track on a record rather than the record's average. • All five tabs switch instantly. Map and My Page have caught up with the rest, and opening a setlist no longer waits. • Scrolling stretches and springs back at the edges. • Pin the genres you use to the front of the row — "Sort", at the right-hand end. • Reporting something now asks what is wrong with it. • Searching without an account is three a month. The dig feed, the DJ sets, the map and every record page are as open as they were.

Sharing into DiggerPocket from other apps works again. • Fixed: picking DiggerPocket in a share sheet did nothing at all. An iOS update changed how apps hand things to one another, and the app was left waiting for an answer that never came. Share a link or a line of text from anywhere and the search starts on arrival. • Setlist tracks have a listen button. Press it to play, press it again to stop; while sound is coming out the button moves. • Tap a track in a setlist to open that record and its prices. It works on shared setlists too. • The setlist row is tidier: a pencil and a ⋯, with publish, duplicate and delete behind the ⋯ with their names written next to them. A published set says so beside its title. • The setlist form says which fields can be left empty, carries an example in each box, and the date field no longer runs off the edge of the screen. • The dig strip fills its first row before starting a second.

A crate of a thousand records now folds down to a finger's height. • The collection and wantlist lists, rebuilt. Track names fold behind a count and years fold behind their heading, so you open only what you want to see. Year headings stay on screen as you scroll past them. The lowest price sits at the top of the row, long titles wrap to two lines, and a long press scrolls one along so you can read the end of it. • A YouTube preview no longer stops when you leave the record. It shrinks into a bar that follows you while it plays, and stays behind when it does not. You can scroll other pages while you watch. • Fixed: the whole page could be dragged sideways. This build exists for that fix. • Unticking collection or wantlist on a search result now really takes the record off the list — and says that it comes off Discogs too before it does. • The dig feed leads with records that are genuinely hard to find: few owners, many people looking. • Enter puts the keyboard away in every search box, and a button on the right empties it in one tap. A message thread opens on the newest message.

How-to, watched instead of read. • Guide films. A bulb in the header opens real screen recordings of turning an Instagram post or a YouTube video into a search, with a hand-drawn circle showing where to tap. • The search screens, redone. Camera and song recognition share one dark stage where an amber button breathes slowly; listening sends sonar rings out of it, and the camera fires a shutter the instant you tap. Swipe sideways to move between the two. • Fixed: picking DiggerPocket in the YouTube app's share sheet sometimes started nothing. The share carries a thumbnail image alongside the link, and the app was grabbing the picture. The link wins now. • The dig feed and the DJ sets now lead with records close to your own wantlist — judged by style (Boogie, Jazz-Funk), which is finer than genre. • When a preview video is wrong and no candidate is right, you can now take it down. A removed video stays removed.

Messages you can react to, a friend's shelf you can dig through, and DJ sets to pull records from. • Messages, rebuilt. Double-tap a bubble for a heart or hold one for the six reactions, take back anything you sent, and see when what you sent has been read. Swipe a conversation off the list. • Translation on any message you receive, into whichever of the six languages you are reading in. • A friend's collection and wantlist, browsable and sortable like your own — by artist, by when they got it, or by tempo, with the same year and letter dividers. • DJ sets on the front page. Every track on a mix is a record you can look up, price and add to your wantlist. Filter them by genre. • Automatic BPM. Records nobody has timed now carry an estimate, drawn gray beside the name of where it came from so it never passes for a reading somebody took. Type over it and it is yours from that moment. • The lowest price currently listed, on your wantlist. • Track names arrive with your collection instead of being fetched a row at a time, and the search screen opens faster. • Records come off a list by swiping the row, and the swipe asks before anything happens — this reaches your Discogs account, so it should not be one gesture. • Dark mode follows your device, the keyboard no longer covers the field you are typing into, and you can swipe in from the left edge to go back. • The share sheet says when a share did not go through, instead of closing in silence.

Accounts arrive, and with them the half of DiggerPocket that remembers you. • Sign in with Apple, Google or an email address. • Collection and wantlist, synced both ways with Discogs. Add a record here and it turns up there; add it there and it turns up here — with the date Discogs has always had for it, so "recently added" means what it says. • BPM per track. Clock it once against the pressing you own, and see what other diggers have timed the same record at. • Setlists. Build a set out of your own crate: place a record and the crate reorders around it, closest tempo first, showing the size of the jump at every join. Keep what you played, where and when — or line up the next night in advance. • A dig feed under the search box: the records collectors and DJs are looking for right now, no names attached. • Friends by code or QR, each other's crates, and messages. • The collection got its controls back. Order by date added, artist or BPM with the direction written out rather than implied by an arrow, filter by Discogs genre and style, and slide the index down the edge to reach a year or a letter.

What's New in 1.8 • Share a record into DiggerPocket from any app. Send it a YouTube video, an Instagram post or a single line of text and it looks the record up — from Instagram it reads the photo, from YouTube the video title. Until now only a plain photo counted, so sharing a link never offered DiggerPocket at all. • The map searches in both scripts at once. Type 渋谷 or "shibuya" and the same shops come back, whichever language the app is set to. Until now each language only searched its own version of the address, so half the shelf was invisible depending on what you typed. • More words narrow it down. "disk union shibuya" finds the shop even though those words are not next to each other in its name, and "下北沢 jazz" gives you the jazz shops in Shimokitazawa rather than everything in the area. • The shop you named comes first. Searching "rack" used to bury The Record Rack behind everything that merely contained those letters — Soundtracks, Backtracks. Results are ordered by where the match landed: the name, then the address, then anything else. • The map goes to what you searched for. It used to sit on your own location, so looking for a shop in another city showed you an unchanged map and looked like nothing had been found. • Searching 京都 no longer returns Tokyo. 東京都 ends with the two characters that spell Kyoto, and every address in Tokyo was answering. • eBay prices appear on records that showed none. A listing that puts the catalogue number straight after the artist — one of the commonest ways a record is listed — was being read as a different artist and thrown away. • Capitals, and full-width or half-width characters, no longer change what you find.

What's New in 1.7 • The text field now sits at the top of the search and map screens, so looking up an artist or a shop no longer means hunting for the box first. Beneath it are two clear tabs — Search by Photo and Search by Sound — instead of three cramped ones. • Search by Sound picks the right pressing more often. When a 7" and a 12" both fit what it heard, it now shows you both with their Discogs details and lets you choose, rather than guessing on your behalf. Official pressings rank above promos and test pressings, and covers no longer come up blank. • The microphone records in measurement mode, so a shop's quiet passages and loud choruses reach the recognizer at the levels they were actually played at. • A new FAQ, linked at the bottom of every page, and a "?" on the sound panel explaining how to hold the phone. • Atlas now lists 3,061 record shops and listening bars across 64 countries. • The German, French, Italian and Spanish text has been read through and corrected by native speakers.
