You are a mole. You have a rocket. Nobody has ever explained why.
Somewhere beneath your feet, buried between the topsoil and a rather unfriendly lake of magma, sits a gemstone. Your job is simple: launch high into the sky, flip over, point your drill at the ground and plunge straight down to land on it.
Too little power and you stop short, staring at rock. Too much and you meet the magma, which is hot, and which does not care about your feelings.
CHARGE. LAUNCH. DRILL. (TRY NOT TO MELT.)
Hold to wind up the charge wheel and let go when it feels right. Your launch power is measured in real megajoules, and it's the same every time, so you really can learn it. The ground is the tricky bit. Soft sand flies past. Granite grinds. Basalt is basically a wall with opinions. Read the rock layers, judge your power and drill for glory.
GEM STRIKE!
Land on the gem to win it. Land on the next one too and you've got a streak going. How long can you keep it up before the ground humbles you? Diamonds, rubies, alexandrite and plenty more are waiting for your collection, graded Bronze, Silver, Gold and the very rare RARE.
THE WORKSHOP
Spend the stars you earn on gadgets no sensible mole should own:
• Rocket Wheels, for shuffling sideways over gems that are off to one side
• The Gem Scoop, a magnet that grabs gems as you drill past
• Sonar, for finding out how deep the gem really is
• The Heat Shield, for when you forgot what "too much" means
• The Rainbow Drill, which is faster and also, crucially, rainbow
• The Overdrive Gauge, for when a ×5 charge simply won't do
• Magma Armour, for swimming where moles really shouldn't swim
Plus rocket skins, mole outfits and new lands to show off how many gems you've found.
THE MOLTENHEART (PROBABLY A MYTH)
Mole drillers whisper about it around the campfire. A gem that burns deep in the magma itself, where no rocket could possibly survive. Nobody has ever seen one. Nobody even knows if they're real.
Some claim they've felt a rumble in the deep. Some claim they've glimpsed a glow. And some claim that if you ever do spot one, you only get ONE shot at it before it shimmers away. Was it real? Was it your imagination? Only one way to find out.
HAVE YOU PACKED YOUR PASSPORT?
The magma is hot. The core is hotter. And the other side of the world is, well, the other side of the world. No mole could drill that far. It would take ridiculous power, some very specialist armour and something extra in the tank on top of all that.
Surely nobody is silly enough to try.

The Daily Dig serves everyone the same fresh puzzle each day. Keep your daily streak alive, and keep an eye out for Cavern Days, when there's a whole hollow to land in.
