Set a target BPM and every song lands on the beat. Apple Music, tempo-matched. Play your playlists at the cadence you run at, pitch untouched — or bring your own MP3s. Your music. Your cadence. Every song lands on the beat. Green Onions stretches songs in real time to the exact tempo you run at. A 104 BPM song becomes a 165 BPM song. The pitch never moves, so nothing sounds like chipmunks — it just sounds like that song, faster. APPLE MUSIC, TEMPO-MATCHED Connect Apple Music and your playlists play at your cadence. Nothing to download, nothing to convert, nothing to re-buy. Your playlists stay exactly where they are — edit them in the Music app and the changes are simply here. OR BRING YOUR OWN No Apple Music subscription? Add MP3 and M4A files from Files or your own music library and everything works the same way. THE SURPRISE It's which songs turn out to be great running songs. Slow, sentimental records you would never put on a workout playlist suddenly work, because tempo was the only thing standing in the way. HOW IT WORKS 1. Connect Apple Music, or add music you own. 2. Green Onions works out each song's BPM. 3. Set your target cadence. Press play. 4. Every song speeds up or slows down to land on that number. CHANGE PACE FROM THE LOCK SCREEN The − and + buttons live on your Lock Screen while you run. Pick up the tempo for the last half mile without unlocking your phone or breaking stride. FOR RUNNERS Most recreational runners land between 150 and 170 steps per minute. Set the number you actually run at and let the music come to you. Cadence is not pace — you can hold 170 on an easy jog or a hard one, which is exactly why running to a fixed beat works. FOR SLOW JOGGING AND ZONE 2 If you follow the 180 spm slow-jogging method, set it to 180 once and stop thinking about it. Music you love instead of a metronome beep. FOR JUMP ROPE Set the tempo the rope comes round at — around 140–150 for a steady skip — and the music matches it. WHAT IT COSTS Free to download, and your first 25 songs are free — counted, not timed. A skip costs nothing, and the counter never runs out mid-run. After that, $9.99 once unlocks everything, forever. No subscription, nothing renews, nothing is charged automatically. The built-in demo track keeps playing free, whatever you decide. WHAT IT IS NOT Not a streaming service of its own, and not a Spotify player. Spotify's downloads are encrypted and no third-party app is allowed to open them or change their speed, on any tier. Apple Music is the one subscription that permits it. NO ACCOUNT, NO ADS, NO TRACKING There is nothing to sign up for — open it and press play. No advertising, no analytics, no data collected about you. Music you add lives on your phone and works in a dead zone or in airplane mode; Apple Music streaming needs a connection, the same as it does in the Music app.
