A grimoire is meant to hold great and mysterious magic. This one holds only small magics: the candle lit anyway, the cup held in two hands, the one brave thing the size of a matchhead. Forty-three small spells you can cast from bed, on a quarter tank, in the dark, with the door cracked open to let the evening in.
Light a candle. Turn the one that calls to you. Sit with it as long as you like. Leave whenever you are ready. That is the whole of it.
The book keeps no score and counts no days. There are no streaks, no badges, no notice that you ever missed a day, and nothing that could ever make a low night feel like a failure.
