ShelfNavigator
Every folder and drive at once
Only for Mac
$19.99
Mac
On sale through 30 September. Photos, videos and text from every folder and drive in one grid — smooth at hundreds of thousands of files, with no network access.
Your files spread across folders, external drives and years of downloads. ShelfNavigator indexes the folders you register and shows all of them as one browsable, searchable shelf.
ONE VIEW ACROSS EVERYTHING
Register any number of folders — internal, external, network. They appear together in a single grid. No copying, no importing, no reorganising: your files stay exactly where they are.
BUILT FOR LARGE COLLECTIONS
The catalogue is a local index, so hundreds of thousands of files stay smooth to scroll and instant to search. New and changed files are picked up automatically in the background.
SEARCH THAT NARROWS FAST
Type plain words, or be precise:
beach ext:png size>10mb
kind:video duration>60
tag:family modified:2024
Filter by size, dimensions, duration and date from a panel, or by Finder tag from the sidebar.
IMAGES, VIDEO AND TEXT
A tile grid with adjustable thumbnails, and a preview mode with a filmstrip. Video plays inside the app, including formats QuickTime will not open. Text files show their contents. RAW photos are supported.
WORKS WITH THE FINDER, NOT AGAINST IT
Finder tags are read and listed in the sidebar. Reveal any file in the Finder. Choose which app opens each kind of file, without changing your system defaults.
FIND DUPLICATES
Compare files across every registered folder by content, not by name. Before anything is moved, the files involved are read in full and compared again.
SAFE BY DEFAULT
ShelfNavigator never erases a file. Deleting moves it to the Trash, and Command-Z puts it straight back for as long as the app stays open.
It has no network access at all, so nothing about your files can leave your Mac.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
The check that runs before duplicates are moved to the Trash is back to reading the files.
In 1.1.1 a file was moved without being read again whenever its size and modification date still matched what the scan recorded. That could not tell apart a file edited in place at the same length, so a file that was no longer a duplicate could be moved. The copy you keep and every copy being moved are now read in full and compared again.
The speed is kept another way: sets are verified several at a time, where 1.1 waited for one before starting the next.
• Finding duplicates is as quick as it was in 1.1.1
• Cancelling now takes effect part-way through a set
• Corrected the description, including what is possible with an external drive unplugged
