WordPress Browser Extension
Your WordPress site companion
Only for Mac
Free
Mac
Quick access to your WordPress sites, content editing, and developer tools. Tuck away the admin bar. Free, open source, and private: nothing leaves your browser.
The official WordPress Browser Extension detects WordPress sites and puts useful site-management shortcuts in your Safari toolbar. Keep pages clear of the WordPress admin bar when you want to see them the way visitors do, while keeping quick access to helpful editorial, developer, and testing tools.
KEY FEATURES
• Detect WordPress sites as you browse. The toolbar icon shows whether the current site runs WordPress and whether you are signed in. No badges, no notifications.
• Hide or show the WordPress admin bar per site, or hide it by default in the extension's settings.
• Quickly edit the content you're looking at by jumping to the editor. On block themes, template-backed pages open in the Site Editor. Create new content from the New menu.
• Jump to the home page or dashboard of any site you manage. A locally stored My Sites launcher remembers the WordPress sites you sign in to.
• Tools for developers and testers: highlight block boundaries on the front end, open a mobile-sized preview window, clear site data, and reload the current page with cache busting.
• Edit the page you are on with a keyboard shortcut.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No telemetry, no analytics, no third-party services. The extension does its work locally, reading the page you are on and, when you are signed in as an administrator, calling that site's own REST API. Nothing leaves your browser for any service beyond the WordPress site you are already visiting.
WORKS WITH ANY WORDPRESS SITE
Self-hosted or on managed hosting, classic or block themes. The extension is free and open source, like WordPress itself, developed in the open at github.com/WordPress/browser-extension.
GETTING STARTED
After installing, turn the extension on in Safari Settings, Extensions. Safari asks permission before the extension can read any page: click the WordPress icon in the toolbar and choose Always Allow for the current site, or choose Always Allow on Every Website to detect WordPress sites automatically as you browse. Then visit any WordPress site and click the toolbar icon.

Small fixes: the Edit keyboard shortcut hint now displays with macOS symbols, and screens like "Not a WordPress site" no longer show a mismatched color band at the edges in dark mode.
