You wake up exhausted, in pain, and someone tells you: "But you look fine."
BUT YOU LOOK FINE is a decision card game about living with chronic and invisible illness — conditions like fibromyalgia, ME/CFS, lupus, MS and endometriosis that others often cannot see. Every card is a moment: a doctor who doubts you, a friend who forgets, a body that betrays plans.
THE SCREEN IS TWO LAYERS
Above, SEEN: how you look from the outside. Below, ACTUAL: what you really are. The two never say the same thing. You decide by pushing the seam between them — down to put the mask on, up to be seen as you are. The layer that grows wins. Hold still and the mask lifts, showing the real face; looking decides nothing. That face is not a ready-made picture: eyelids, blinking and breath, drawn live from code.
This is an awareness game made with empathy, not pity. It is satirical about the absurd situations chronic patients face — and gentle toward the people living them. Nothing here mocks the illness; it questions the world that keeps saying "you look fine."
EVERY CHOICE BALANCES FOUR THINGS:
• Energy — the limited fuel of your day
• Credibility — whether people believe your pain
• Relationships — the ties you protect or strain
• Health — the long game your body plays
There are no perfect choices, only the ones real patients weigh every day. There is no winning or losing either, and no good or bad ending. The journey is long: a run closes only if you force the seam the same way for a very long time, and even then the closing text does not blame you.
All 591 cards rest on documented sources, and each card prints its source at the foot. The story is fictional and not based on any real person or event. The game does not give medical advice, diagnose, or recommend treatment.
Whether you live with invisible illness or love someone who does, it lets you feel a single day from the inside.
16 languages. Fully offline: no account, no server, no ads, no data collected. The game is free; if it moved you, you can leave the developer an optional tip to say thanks. It never changes the game or unlocks anything — the whole story is yours from the start.

The interface has been rewritten.
• The Two Faces screen: SEEN above, ACTUAL below, a seam between them. You decide by pushing the seam; hold still and you can look under the mask.
• The face is now a live rig — eyelids, blinking, breathing. Expressions move between states instead of cutting.
• A seam direction setting: up-down or left-right, in the menu next to the language picker.
• A run no longer ends quickly. The meters resist their extremes; the game closes only if you push the seam one way for a long time. There is no good or bad ending.
• All 16 languages were reviewed, and the guide was rewritten from scratch for the new interface.
