OpenPrayer: Salah & Fasting
Salah times, qibla and streaks
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
OpenPrayer is a quiet, private tracker for the five daily prayers and for
fasting.
Open it and today is already there: every prayer with its time, the window
that is open now counting down, and one tap to mark a prayer prayed on time
or late. Tap a prayer to read its intention in English, see the rak'ah
count, and find the qibla on a live compass.
PRAYER TIMES
• Calculated on your device with the adhan library, using the Moonsighting
Committee method and the twilight-angle rule for high latitudes.
• Choose the Standard or Hanafi position for Asr.
• Override the Fajr and Isha angles, or adjust any prayer a minute at a
time, sunrise included.
• Set your place by using your location once, searching for a city, or
typing coordinates in by hand.
TRACKING THAT FITS A REAL LIFE
• On time, late, or made up afterwards (qada), with a picker of the prayers
you have actually missed.
• Excused days — mark the days prayers are not owed, during menstruation for
example, and they never break a streak.
• Travelling: mark the day and Dhuhr joins Asr, Maghrib joins Isha, with
shortened (qasr) intentions.
• Jum'ah on Friday, optional prayers (Tahajjud, Duha and Witr), the Eid
prayers when the day comes, and mosque tracking if you want to record
where you prayed.
FASTING
• Ramadan, Mondays and Thursdays, the White Days, Arafah and Ashura — each
appearing only on the days it falls on, and never on the days fasting is
not permitted.
• Suhoor and iftar countdowns, missed Ramadan days you can make up, and a
Ramadan tab that appears for the month.
HISTORY, STREAKS AND BADGES
• A calendar and a timeline, both scrolling back as far as you have logged.
Tap any day to edit it.
• 45 badges across seven categories, each dated to the day you earned it,
not the day you entered it.
• A Year in Review for the Islamic year, saveable as an image.
• Add the prayers and fasts you missed before you started, so your history
begins honestly.
ON YOUR PHONE, NOT ON A SERVER
• No account, no sign-up, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
• Everything is stored on your device and the app works in aeroplane mode.
The only network request it makes is the city search, and only when you
tap Search.
• Reminders for prayer times and for suhoor and iftar are scheduled on your
device.
• Export everything as JSON or CSV, or delete any part of it.
WIDGETS
Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for the current and next prayer, your
streak with today's five, and the fast in progress. The large Home Screen
widget lets you tick a prayer off without opening the app. Requires iOS 17
or later.
OpenPrayer is in English, built for iPhone, and free.
