Ask Genie: now you can just ask. Tap the Ask Genie button on the Today screen and say what you want to know. - "When is the next rain?" - "What's the weather like tomorrow?" - "Do I need an umbrella?" - "How windy is it right now?" - "What time is sunset?" - "What's the weekend looking like?" - "When's a good time for a run?" - "Any weather alerts?" The answer appears on screen and is read back to you, in plain language, with the numbers it was based on underneath it. It knows what you mean. Ask about tonight, tomorrow, Saturday, the weekend or the week ahead, and Ask Genie reads the right part of the forecast. Ask about snow and it answers about snow, not rain. Ask when the rain will stop and it looks for the first dry hour rather than the next wet one. Ask about walking the dog and it scores the day differently than it would for a run. Every answer carries the same label the rest of the app uses, so you can always see whether you are being told a forecast, a measurement, an official warning, or Weather Genie's own reading of the numbers. And when the forecast doesn't reach far enough to answer, it says so instead of guessing. It happens on your phone. Your question is recognized on your device wherever iOS supports it, and the answer is built entirely from the forecast already downloaded to your phone. Nothing you say is recorded, stored, or sent to Weather Genie. There is no AI service behind this, which is also why it still works on a plane with no signal, on whatever forecast you last loaded. The microphone is optional. Tap one of the example questions, or type instead, and the answers are identical. If you decline the permission, nothing else in the app changes. There is a new "Speak Ask Genie Answers" switch in Settings for when you would rather read than listen. Under VoiceOver the answer is not spoken twice. Also in this version: - A one-off card on the Today screen showing how to put Weather Genie on your Home Screen, for anyone who hasn't found the widgets yet. Dismiss it and it stays dismissed. - Shared radar cards now carry the app's address, so a picture of the storm you sent someone can be traced back to where it came from. - Assorted internal tidying, including a single source of truth for the app's web address so the About screen and a shared image can never disagree. Weather Genie remains free for 30 days with every feature unlocked, then a single $9.99 purchase unlocks it permanently. No subscription, no advertising, no account, and no tracking.
