Open it and get the answer: storm level, aurora chance, and what the Sun just did. Underneath sits the full instrument panel — solar wind speed and southward Bz, GOES X-ray flux, the NOAA G/R/S scales, planetary Kp with the 3-day forecast, sunspot number and F10.7.
HP30 — THE DETAIL KP MISSES
The standard Kp index updates every three hours. Earth Around also charts GFZ Potsdam's Hp30, which resolves geomagnetic activity every 30 minutes and is open-ended above Kp 9 — so a fast-moving storm shows up as it happens, not hours later.
EVERY NUMBER IS CHECKED
Live data from NOAA SWPC and GFZ Potsdam. Every classification — G-scale, R-scale, flare class, aurora view line — is computed by a local function tested against the published definition. Nothing is shown that cannot be validated, sources are cited on every panel, and the age of the data is always visible. When a feed is down it says so instead of guessing.
