This update improves collection recovery, photo importing and saving. It also keeps your entries in place while the app refreshes and provides clearer account status information.

This update makes website photo imports more reliable. Available photos can be saved when an extra retailer image is unavailable, and slow photo alignment no longer keeps an import waiting indefinitely. Existing original photos are preserved, recovery messages explain when a photo is saved on your device, and imports safely handle account changes or newer edits. It also includes improvements to collection recovery, syncing, custom fields, spreadsheet imports, and photo previews.

This update improves collection reliability. You can keep browsing, adding and editing knives while cloud sync recovers. Photo loading is smoother, and recovery controls let you retry sync and show photos separately while keeping your saved knives, original photographs and pending edits.

Make every knife record your own. Add custom fields while entering a knife or editing one you already own, with a name, value and optional unit. Add as many fields as you need, and keep your details with your private collection. Knife entry is clearer, with fewer duplicate brand and maker suggestions and a separate Kiritsuke option. Menus now fit neatly on smaller screens, and your typing stays in place during background sync.

A cleaner Katana makes your collection and Social easier to navigate. Add knife stays at the top, while labeled menus organize exports and other actions. Social now has a simpler feed with Following, Explore, Kudos, Discuss and Field notes. Updated tutorials and help explain the new controls. Discuss with your AI is available from the Collection menu and each knife’s menu. Choose knives, add a question and preview a text summary with relevant Edge Index references, then copy it or share the text file with your own AI app. Personal notes, purchase details and care entries are included only when you choose them.

Improves collection sync reliability and adds recovery controls for interrupted saves. Open saved knife details with photos paused, retry syncing, or create a backup while keeping your pending changes.

Import collection and maintenance records with guided worksheet selection, field matching, and review before saving. Includes security improvements.

Adding a knife starts with Brand, with separate fields for smith, sharpener and polisher. Find names in either order and steels by familiar Blue and White names. Record grind, bevel balance and finish separately. Preview a photo before saving it, or cancel and choose another. Clearer sections make longer entries easier to complete.

Bug fixes and speed improvements

Knife entry now keeps unfinished edits in place during background sync and waits for you to choose Save. Maker suggestions work in Add and Edit, and polisher has its own field. Find Add knife at the top of Collection, choose a worksheet and columns for spreadsheet imports, and browse live retailer channels.

Each knife now has a private care journal for sharpening and maintenance, with dates, tools, notes and before-and-after photos. Share individual knives more easily, open full Social posts with Read more, and choose which Social alerts you receive. This update also improves maker summaries, photo storage and recovery, and screen sizing when returning from Social to Collection.

Retailer updates now have their own inbox, with unread counts and a separate view for each shop. Swipe between retailers, save messages for later, and archive updates you have finished reading. Find your interests beside your wishlist, and manage retailer and Social notifications independently in Account. Your collection and retailer sharing choices stay unchanged.

Photo storage and collection syncing are more efficient. Editing a knife's details no longer uploads unchanged photographs, while originals remain available for zoom and export. This update also improves sign-in recovery after a connection drops. Keep using your existing account and collection.

Retailer invitations continue after sign-in. Preliminary channels save your choice for future updates. You can pause retailer updates at any time.

Explore Edge Index in the new Discover section: browse makers, steels, knife types, and regions; read complete profiles and sources; explore the regional map; and keep a private saved-research list. Navigation now sits above the content. Open shared knife collections directly from Social, and manage retailers with clearer Follow and Unfollow controls. Our new store name makes Katana easier to recognize as a knife collection app.

Social now puts your photos first, with clearer separation between posts and a full-screen viewer. Tap a photo, then pinch or double-tap to zoom and drag to examine details. This update also adds saved post drafts, unread activity counts, optional notifications for Social and Inbox, collection display choices, and clearer photo comparisons during sync review.
