A better Ask Bayan, and a steadier app underneath it. • Ask Bayan quotes the poems themselves: ask for a poet on a theme and it searches that poet's verses, and every poem card opens the poem. • Answers in Persian stay in Persian, and a question it cannot place gets a search rather than a shrug. • Widgets turn to the new poem at midnight, on time. • Search is more forgiving of how a word is spelled, and six poems gained their missing English translations. • If your reading data is ever damaged, Bayan now recovers it instead of starting over.

Meet Ask, in the middle of the tab bar. • Ask Bayan in plain words: a line you half remember, what a word means, who a poet was. It answers from the library and every poem it cites opens on the line. Ask is a cloud feature and stays off until you turn it on. • Search has moved into the Library: the field at the top searches every verse, offline, exactly as before. • Poem of the Day on your Lock Screen, on iPhone and iPad.

Bayan now comes to your Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV. • Apple Watch: today's poem on your wrist, today's beyt on your watch face, and a faal from any of the twelve poets, with its interpretation on request. The Me tab has a page for setting it up. • Mac and Apple TV: read Bayan on a bigger screen. • Continue Reading widget: pick one of your books and the widget shows the poem at your place each day; tap the check mark to mark it read and move on (iOS 17 and later). It replaces the favourite-poet widget, so add it again from the widget gallery. • Books divided into sections, such as the Masnavi, now read in order, and the foot of each poem says where your place is. • A poem opens at its top unless you are returning to your place.

Bayan now reads in Arabic, Farsi and English. Every hemistich of all 17,068 poems has a translation beside the Persian. The twelve poet biographies have been rewritten and checked against scholarly sources.

Search that finds what you type. Faal from any poet, not just Hafez. Interpret individual couplets in your language.

Three readings for every word you tap. The definition card used to have one source. It now has three: • Steingass — the 1892 classical lexicon, instant and offline, as before • In this line — what the word means in the bayt you tapped it in, in Farsi and in English, with a sentence on the job it is doing there • Wiktionary — always one tap away, not only when the card is empty Words that came back "no definition available" now have something to say. The contextual reading is optional and off by default; it runs under the same Cloud Analysis consent you already control in Settings. Tap-to-define comes to the Faal. The poem you are handed straight out of onboarding was the one screen where tapping an archaic word did nothing. It works there now.

Legibility is improved and we support iOS 16.4 now.
