Earshot turns any street into a walking tour told by the people who know it. Start a walk, put your phone in your pocket, and Earshot plays short, community-recorded audio about the places you're approaching — the mural, the weird building, the shop that used to be a theatre. A neighbour's own recording plays, timed to arrive right as you reach the spot. Then it goes quiet until the next one. No feeds, no staring at a screen — eyes up, hands free. WHY EARSHOT • Local knowledge lives in people's heads and dies there. Earshot pins it to the place, for the next person walking by. • It's audio, so it fits walking: you look at the neighbourhood, not the app. • It's community-built. Every voice is a real neighbour, not a scripted tour. HOW IT WORKS • Start a walk — Earshot finds the places near you that have a recording. • Keep walking — clips play automatically, one at a time, timed to your pace. A clip never interrupts another and never repeats within a walk. • Add your own — stand somewhere you know, tap record, talk for up to 60 seconds, and ship it. One take, no redos. It plays for the next person who walks by. • Browse the map — every place with a voice shows as a ring; tap to preview. BUILT FOR THE SIDEWALK • Heads-up and hands-free: the important stuff is always audio. • Plays from your lock screen and keeps going with the phone in your pocket. • One neighbourhood at a time, so there's always something to hear — we're starting in Kensington Market, Toronto. RESPECTFUL BY DESIGN • Anyone can record, but everything is reviewed before it plays. • Report or block a voice you don't want to hear, right from the app. • Delete your account and your recordings at any time (You → Delete Account). Earshot is in early testing and growing neighbourhood by neighbourhood. If you know something about a place near you, add 60 seconds — that's how the map fills in.
