Poteca doesn't just tell you where to walk. It tells you when you have to turn around.
Every hike comes with the things you would otherwise have hunted across five websites the night before: how long it takes, how much it climbs, how you get there, what it costs, which waymark to follow, and when the sun goes down.
YOUR WINDOW OF LIGHT
The app computes sunrise and sunset for the trailhead, on the day you pick, and tells you the latest you can still set off and finish in daylight. It is computed on the device with the NOAA algorithm — it works with no connection.
A MAP THAT WORKS WITHOUT SIGNAL
Real terrain relief with the waymarked routes drawn on it. Download it at home on Wi-Fi and it stays on the phone. Up on the mountain, with no bars, the map still draws.
WHAT IT ACTUALLY COSTS
Broken down: train or car, cable car, park entry, food, a bed. Set a budget and see what fits inside it — not a "recommended" list that sends you to hikes three times the price.
WAYMARKS, READ OFF THE ROCK
Stripe, cross, triangle, dot — red, blue, yellow, green. The sign in the app is the sign you look for on the stone. Each country gets its own: the Polish and Slovak stripes, the Knafelc circle in Slovenia and Serbia, GR and PR in Spain.

The app now opens on the country you are in: install it in Poland and you see the Tatras first, not the Carpathians. The interface starts in your phone's language.
Fixed: on phones set to a language we don't have, the interface stayed in Romanian instead of falling back to English. And a country you picked by hand was forgotten every time you reopened the app.
Petrol or diesel: the app now asks which, and changes the consumption, not just the price per litre.
