RainStash: Rain Gauge Logger

Rainfall totals, works offline

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

The rain you measure yourself, kept for good. Log it in seconds in the paddock, and see how this year stands against your own record and thirty years of climate. RainStash keeps the rainfall record you take yourself. Not a forecast. Not the airport's gauge forty kilometres away. The figure you read off your own gauge this morning, written down where it will still be in twenty years. Tap the day, type what it caught, done. No form, no sign-up, no waiting for a signal — every reading is written to your phone first, so it works in the paddock, the shed, and anywhere else a gauge lives. TRY IT PROPERLY FIRST Ten readings, free, on one gauge. No card, no countdown, no account. The trial ends when you have decided, not on a date you forgot. Importing a CSV never spends those ten. Bring twenty years across and every one of them is free to read, chart and compare. WHAT THE NUMBER ACTUALLY MEANS This is the part a notebook cannot do. • Thirty years of climate for your own area — the 1991-2020 average, from CHIRPS — beside what you measured • Your own average kept separate from it, so a short record is never dressed up as a long one • Month and year to date against the same span of earlier years, so half a season is never judged against whole ones • A rolling twelve-month total, which shows a dry stretch before it bites • Averages over two, five and ten years • Rainfall deciles, for where a year really sits • Mann-Kendall and Sen's slope for a genuine long-term trend — and where the record is too short to support one, it says so instead of drawing a confident line BUILT AROUND THE GAUGE • A keypad sized for wet hands, not a form • Fully offline; an account is optional • Snow and watering kept separate, so neither is counted as rainfall • A trace when something fell but not enough to measure • A weather condition and a note on any day • Millimetres or inches, switched whenever you like • A rainfall year that starts in July, or April, or wherever your season does — every total and average follows it BRING YOUR RECORD WITH YOU Import a CSV from a weather station, a spreadsheet, or another rain gauge app — RainStash reads their export files in whatever shape they come in. Map the columns once and years come across. Two readings on one day are added into that day's total, and nothing is written until you have seen a day-by-day preview. Export it all back out to CSV whenever you want, for Excel, Numbers or farm software. Import, export, charts and trends are free at every tier and at none. NOTHING LOST BY ACCIDENT RainStash keeps a history of changes and lets you go back to how things were, so a mistyped figure or an import you regret is undone rather than lived with. SHARE A GAUGE Give someone a code and your gauge appears in their copy of RainStash — to read, or to add readings when you are not there. The gauge stays yours, access can be withdrawn any time, and they need no subscription of their own. SEE THE DISTRICT The map is free and shows your own gauges — no account, and no signal either, because they are drawn from your own device. A subscription adds everyone else's. That part is a swap: you share one of your gauges and you see the gauges of the people who do the same. It is off until you turn it on, gauge by gauge. A SUBSCRIPTION BUYS GAUGES Yearly, priced by how many gauges you keep: • 2 gauges • 4 gauges • 8 gauges Each also lifts the reading limit for good and adds backup to your account, shared gauges, and the district on the map. If a subscription lapses, nothing is taken away. Every gauge and every reading stays exactly where it is, still readable, still exportable. What stops is adding more. WHAT RAINSTASH IS NOT It does not pull figures from an online weather service. Every number in it is one somebody read off a gauge. That is the whole point. Simple enough for every morning. Serious when you ask it a question. — Subscriptions renew yearly until cancelled, are billed through your Apple Account, and can be managed or cancelled there at any time.
