SocialEase: Social Story Maker
Your photos, your voice
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
New stories for a flu jab, Halloween and Christmas. And opening and reading a story someone shares with you is always free.
Make calm, step-by-step social stories with your own photos and your own voice. SocialEase is made by SEN parents, for SEN parents - families of children with special educational needs.
Social stories are widely used by parents, teachers and therapists to help children and adults - including autistic people and anyone with communication needs - know what to expect, from a first day at school to a trip to the dentist.
START FROM A TEMPLATE
Pick a ready-made story and make it your own: getting a haircut, food shopping, taking the bus, bedtime, going to the doctor, visiting the dentist, getting a flu jab, the first day at school, Halloween and Christmas. Our templates explain what might happen, include options like asking for a break, and finish on a calm note. New templates appear in the app automatically, without waiting for an update. Or start from a blank story.
YOUR PHOTOS, YOUR VOICE
Each page pairs a photo or an emoji with a short sentence. Add real photos from your camera or photo library, and choose background colours, text colours and text size. Record your own voice for each page, or have any page read aloud with a built-in voice.
A PROFILE FOR EACH PERSON
Create up to four profiles, each with its own name, photo, read-aloud voice and stories.
READ TOGETHER
Open any story as a full-screen book with its own cover, and read it together as often as you need before the day.
SHARE WITH THE PEOPLE WHO HELP
Send a story to a grandparent, teacher or carer in a few taps. They choose which profile to save it to. If they don't have SocialEase yet, the link takes them to the App Store. Opening and reading a story someone shares with you is always free.
PRINT IT
Export print-ready PDFs as A5 pages, one per page, or as an A4 grid to take with you or give to school.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your stories, photos and recordings stay on your device or in your own iCloud. We never see them and we don't track you. Turn on iCloud to keep your stories in sync across your iPhone and iPad.
TRY IT FREE
Try SocialEase free for 7 days, then choose a monthly or yearly subscription. Payment is handled by Apple, and you can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings.

New story templates
Get ready for the season ahead with new stories for getting a flu jab, Halloween and Christmas. Templates are now grouped by topic, so they're easier to find, and new ones will appear in the app automatically, without waiting for an update.
Easier to read
Story text now sizes itself to fit each page, template cards line up neatly, and the photo buttons are clearer.
Smoother sharing and reading
We've tidied up the navigation in the story viewer, and profile pictures are no longer cropped when you save a story someone has shared with you.
Thanks for using SocialEase. If you have feedback, you can reach us from Settings › Send Feedback.
