On six Caribbean islands, children ages 5 to 8 learn the most important skill before arithmetic: comparing quantities. Roll the dice, place coins on your deck, look closely. Who has more, who has less, do we have the same amount?
THOUGHTFUL TEACHING
The six islands form a real learning staircase: dice pips from zero to five, then two dice with amounts up to twelve, remembering amounts in the mist, digits instead of dice pictures, and on Treasure Island the signs for greater than, less than and equal. Until then, the result is shown in words ("4 more than 2"). The power of five, the ten-frame in the treasure chest and 1:1 matching are built in everywhere. After three games won, the next island opens.
MADE FOR KIDS – NO READING REQUIRED
Every instruction is spoken aloud and can be repeated at any time. Mistakes trigger friendly hints, never punishment: no time pressure, no lives, no red. Self-correction is praised.
TWO PLAYERS, ONE IPAD
In partner mode, two children play against each other and start talking about math all on their own: "I have two more than you!" Playing alone, your child takes on Piet the parrot, who sometimes miscounts so your child can help him.
SIX LANGUAGES, FULLY VOICED
German, English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Russian: the entire app with every spoken sentence.
FOR PARENTS
A separate area behind an adult gate: learning progress shown as a traffic light that never turns red, progress for each island, and settings for sound, music, subtitles and hints.
