NinetyNine Game
The card game of nerve
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Ninety-Nine is a game of nerve dressed up as arithmetic.
Every card played adds to a shared tally. Take it over 99 and you're finished.
That's the whole rule — and then the deck starts fighting back.
A nine slams the tally straight to 99, whatever it was, and hands the wreckage
to whoever plays next. An eight locks the suit, and everyone must follow or
break. A ten drags the tally backwards. A four flips the direction of play. And
a queen is wild — she copies any card you name, right up until somebody draws
one from the deck and queens turn poisonous for the rest of the game.
When you have nothing legal left, you have two choices. Skip, and owe two plays
next turn. Or go to the well: two face-down cards you've never seen, one drawn
at random. If it plays, you survive and draw two more. If it doesn't, you're
out on the spot.
Last player standing wins.
• THREE OPPONENTS WITH REAL OPINIONS
Casual plays reasonably and misses the killer line. Sharp defends its margin and
reads the table. Ruthless hoards its brakes, weaponises the suit lock, and sets
traps a turn ahead. They don't cheat — they can only see what you can.
• BUILT TO BE FELT
Custom haptic patterns for every event, from the flick of a card leaving your
hand to the double-thump of a nine landing. The tally's tick rises in pitch as
you close on 99, so you hear the danger before you read it.
• EVERY CARD DRAWN IN CODE
No stock art. Real pip layouts on the classic seven-row grid, engraved court
cards, and a guilloche card back — all vector, all crisp at any size.
• NEVER LOOK UP A RULE
Cards you can't legally play are dimmed. Tap one and the game tells you exactly
why. Each choice shows the tally it would produce, so you're making decisions,
not doing sums.
• PASS AND PLAY
Two to six of you, one device. The screen covers itself between turns, so
nobody sees anybody else's hand. Name every seat and hand the phone around.
• TABLES YOUR WAY
Two to six players. Hand sizes from five to twelve. An illustrated rulebook,
lifetime stats, and eleven achievements to chase.
