You are being sold a frontier model when what you needed was a note written.
The big AI subscriptions price in capabilities most clinicians will never touch — code generation, agentic browsing, research pipelines. You wanted three things: turn session notes into a clean SOAP or DAP draft, pull the dates off an authorization letter, and find that thing you wrote about a client eight months ago. You are paying for the rest.
Then there is the part that actually stops you. You do not know what a cloud provider does with a session note after you paste it. You do not know whether it becomes training data next quarter when the terms change. You cannot promise a client something you cannot verify.
Switchyard removes trust from the question. The AI models ship inside the app and run on your computer. Nothing is uploaded — not the notes, not the records, not a usage ping. There is no account, no server, and no setting that could turn any of that on. The app counts the bytes it sends and shows you the number. It reads zero.
WHAT IT DOES
Pick a tool, drop in a document, review what it found, save it. The draft is fully editable before anything is written, and the tools copy what the page says instead of inventing what it doesn't. A note that states no diagnosis produces a blank Assessment field, every time.
Included for a therapy practice:
• Session notes into a SOAP, DAP, or BIRP draft you review
• Treatment plans, with goals and objectives kept as written
• Authorization letters — auth numbers, visit limits, expiry dates
• Superbills and EOB / denial letters, amounts copied and never recalculated
• Records requests and release-of-information forms, with what's excluded flagged
• Attendance and contact logs from your own day list
• Ask — plain-language questions answered only from records you've saved, each answer cited
Records save as Markdown, Word, Excel, or CSV into one folder on your computer that you can open, back up, or delete. Point a tool at a folder and it runs itself on new files.
ABOUT COMPLIANCE
Local-only changes what is in scope, not what your obligations are. Because no third party ever holds the document, there is no vendor to add to a risk assessment, no BAA to negotiate, no subprocessor list to review, and no data-residency question to answer. Your own obligations as a practitioner do not change, and this app does not certify anything about them. It removes one party from the picture: the one you were never able to audit.

THE MODELS
Ships with IBM Granite models — Apache 2.0 licensed, US origin, running inside the app. A fast one for short documents, a more careful one for long or tricky work, and an embedding model that makes your records searchable. Works with no internet connection. If you run Ollama, you can point Switchyard at any model you already have.
