Chirps: Bird ID & Collect

Hear, catch, collect, compete!

Free · In‑App Purchases

Chirps adds a fun twist to bird-song identification: capture and collect the birds you hear around you, try to reveal every species in your region, and connect with friends to share and compare your progress — all powered by identification that runs entirely on your phone, with no internet connection required and no audio ever leaving your device. IDENTIFY BY EAR Point your phone at the trees and Chirps listens continuously, showing candidate species in real time as it hears them. Powered by an on-device neural network, tuned to the birds actually found in your area. BUILD YOUR COLLECTION Every species you hear is logged in your collection — a growing, regional library across 22 supported countries and regions. Every Chirp that you capture is rated (Bronze, Silver, or Gold) based on how strong the identification was. Track your region completion progress, and challenge yourself to collect the highest quality Chirps! LEVEL UP Earn XP for captures, first discoveries, daily exploring, and more. Level up and share the moment with friends. EARN BADGES Earn badges for milestones in your birding, from your first chirp to a five-species day. Pin your favourites to your profile and see your friends'. CONNECT, YOUR WAY Add friends using a private friend code. See friends' latest catches in your feed, and compare progress on friends-only leaderboards. Will you be first to catch them all? IMPORT YOUR HISTORY Already have recordings from another birding app? Import them in bulk and let Chirps identify what's in them, filling out your collection without re-recording a thing. PRIVACY BY DESIGN Your recordings and your exact location are never sent to our servers — only a country is ever shared, and only if you choose to be social. If you turn on Chirps Plus backup, your collection is copied to your own private iCloud, which we cannot read. There are no ads, no analytics, and no tracking. WORKS WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT Everything above works completely offline with no sign-in required. Create an account only if you want the social features. CHIRPS PLUS Chirps Plus is an optional annual subscription that you can cancel at any time. It unlocks extras such as Apple Watch integration, Cloud backup, additional customisation options, widgets, and richer stats.
