Stop guessing who to sub. Sideline Hero plans fair rotations before tip-off and guides you through every substitution, live.
Sideline Hero is a basketball substitution planner and sub timer for youth and community coaches. It plans fair rotations before tip-off and tells you who to sub during the game, so every player gets their share of court time.
You're on the sideline. The clock is running. Someone needs to come off. Who's been on longest? Who hasn't had their fair share of playing time?
Most coaches juggle this on a clipboard and lose track by the second quarter. Sideline Hero keeps track of it for you, so you can focus on coaching.
PLAN BEFORE TIP-OFF
Mark who's available today and pick your starting five, or let Smart Pick choose a lineup from skill level and recent playing time. Sideline Hero builds a rotation plan that balances court time across the whole squad. You choose the priority: equal minutes for everyone, more minutes for developing players, or your strongest group on court. Let the app decide when to sub, set a fixed interval, set a number of subs per period, or plan every sub yourself.
FOLLOW ALONG LIVE
The game clock runs alongside the action, and a vibration alert warns you before each sub, not after it. A planned sub takes two taps. Need a change the plan didn't expect? Manual sub lists the bench with the players who need court time most at the top, and the rest of the plan rebalances around your choice. If a player is injured or fouls out, they come out of the rotation and their minutes are shared across the squad. If your clock drifts from the scoreboard, you can re-sync it without changing anyone's minutes.
TRACK STATS IF YOU WANT THEM
Turn on live scoring to tap in points, fouls and the opponent's score, with an alert when a player reaches the foul limit. Assists and blocks can be switched on too. Court time is logged to the second either way.
SEE THE WHOLE SEASON
Every game adds to a running record. Review the final score and each player's minutes, points and fouls. Share a readable game summary with your team chat, or export a game or a whole season as a spreadsheet (CSV). Group games into seasons, compare each player's season minutes against an even split, and add one-off fill-in players without cluttering your roster. Practice games can be kept out of season totals.
SHARE WITH ANOTHER COACH
Coaching with an assistant, or handing the team over for a week? Send a team file from the team screen, or a single game from its summary, and the other coach imports it from the Teams tab. Free.
BUILT FOR YOUTH AND COMMUNITY BASKETBALL
Made for junior and club coaches where fair playing time isn't just good coaching. It's an obligation to every kid and their family. Rosters of 5 to 12 players, 1 to 8 periods of up to 30 minutes each, and your own team colours and logo.
FREE, WITH ADS
Sideline Hero is free to download and shows small banner ads on the home, teams, history and settings screens. You'll never see an ad while you set up or run a game. An optional Premium purchase, yearly or one-time, removes ads and adds new premium features as they're released.
YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
There's no account and no login. Your team, player and game data stays on your phone unless you share it. Ads come from Google AdMob and are non-personalised. Google gets technical details like your device type to show them, never your team data. Running a game works fully offline.
