Feed the stack, walk away, and come back to named PDFs in folders you chose. Papers turns a stack of paper into separate documents with readable names, filed into folders on your Mac. Once they are filed, the paper is optional. Load the feeder and walk away. Every page is recognized as it arrives, so by the time the last sheet is through, the stack has already been read. WHAT IT DOES • Reads while it scans, so organizing the stack afterwards takes a moment rather than a wait. • Straightens a sheet that went in sideways or upside down, before it is read and before it is filed that way for good. • Finds a sheet that went through the feeder twice by what it says, keeps the newer scan, and leaves the older copy to one side for you to decide about. • Names each document properly: what it is, who it is about, which organization, which period. Parts that are not known are simply left out. • Files each one into one of eight folders inside an archive folder you choose. YOU HAVE THE LAST WORD Split a document, merge two, rename one, move a page. Nothing is written to disk until you confirm it, and an existing file is never overwritten. Every document carries a six-character code in its name, so it can be found again after you have renamed it or moved it somewhere of your own. YOUR PAPERS ARE THE PRIVATE KIND Bills, contracts, test results. Text is recognized on your Mac, by macOS itself, and images of your pages are never uploaded anywhere. Only the recognized text leaves, and it goes to Apple Intelligence on Private Cloud Compute — not to a server of ours. We have none. Scans and page images are deleted with the session. What is left is the PDFs, in your folder, on your disk. FREE, AND PAID Scanning is free and always will be: feed the paper in, straighten it, and save the whole stack as one PDF, with no account and no time limit. Reading the stack into separate, named documents is the paid part, by monthly or yearly subscription. THE LANGUAGES ON THE PAPER Text is recognized on your Mac in 29 languages: Arabic, Cantonese, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Marathi, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese. A stack can mix them — each page is read in the language it is written in — and the documents are named in the language the app is in. Requires macOS 27 and a Mac with Apple Intelligence.
