Art Guitar: AI Chords & Tabs
Guitar, ukulele & piano chords
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Art Guitar turns the music you love into songs you can actually play — on guitar, ukulele or piano.
TRANSCRIBE ANY SONG
Find any song on YouTube right inside the app, or bring your own audio file — Art Guitar detects the chords automatically and lines them up with the lyrics, karaoke-style.
THREE INSTRUMENTS
Pick guitar, ukulele or piano and the whole song follows:
• Chord diagrams for your instrument — fretboard shapes or piano keys
• Tabs re-fretted for the ukulele, a two-hand piano part on the grand staff
• Play-along that sounds like the instrument you chose
• Set your default instrument once in Settings, switch per song in View
TABS AND NOTATION
Ask for a tab and get the guitar part written out: tablature and standard notation side by side, with the chords above the staff. The bar you are hearing lights up as the song plays, tap any bar to start from there, and switch between the recording and a synthesised guitar to hear the part on its own.
STRUMMING PATTERNS
Not sure how to hit the strings? Art Guitar listens to the drums and suggests the strumming pattern for the song, written out beat by beat and playable at your own tempo.

1.0.116 2d ago
This update adds support for measuring app installs from our ads.
1.0.115 3d ago
• The strum panel says when a fingerpicking check is under way and updates in place when it finishes — the check itself now takes about a minute instead of several
1.0.114 4d ago
• Start or restore a subscription without creating an account first — sign in afterwards if you want it on all your devices
• Pickings on the ukulele: the bass sounds on the low C string, not the high g, and the picking chart follows the ukulele's tuning
• Pickings on the piano play as an arpeggio — the bass in the left hand, the chord notes in the right — and the thumbnails draw notes by their role instead of guitar strings
• Deleting your account asks you to confirm the way you actually signed in
1.0.112 5d ago
• Fingerpicking: the app hears when the guitar in the recording picks and suggests a picking instead of a strum — from the vocabulary or "as recorded", taken from the song itself
• The picking chart on real strings: the bass sits on the current chord's string and moves with the chord changes, muted strings are marked
• A light brush over the treble strings inside a picking, drawn as down/up arrows
• Every strum pattern stays in the list with the chosen one marked; a tap chooses, the main button plays
• New arrows: thinner and cleaner, and a wide bar scrolls along with the sounding beat
1.0.110 6d ago
• Strumming with the vocals: pausing keeps the strum bar on screen, and its Stop takes you back to normal playback
• A song opened from your Repertoire now shows its own video — it could keep the previous song's
• Your songs from audio files show their cover in the Repertoire too
• Learn mode: tapping a strike on the rail plays exactly its notes
1.0.107 Sep 25
• Learn mode reads more naturally: open strings stay with their phrase, short phrases fit on one line, and tapping a card plays its open strings too
• Changed the capo? The Key sheet shows the recommended one and takes you back in a tap — and your own songs now get a capo recommendation too
• Tabs skip the empty bars before the first note
• My Songs picks up improved lyrics when we re-transcribe a song you haven't edited
• Pop-up messages can be swiped away
1.0.104 Sep 25
• Learn mode for tabs: the part is cut into hand shapes — one card per position of the hand, with the fingering drawn on it
• Tap a card or a bar to hear just that; drag along the strike rail and the hand follows you, note by note
• Thumbs up or down on chords, lyrics and tabs, and a place to write to us — the answer arrives inside the app
• The strumming pattern other players like best now opens first
• Every view keeps its own capo, and "Follow in lyrics" stays off while a strum plays over the vocals
1.0.101 Sep 24
• Repertoire replaces Favorites: the songs you love and the ones you imported, in one list
• Marks — Learning, Can play, and your own with icons; filter by them in a tap
• Practice streak: how many days in a row you have played, right in Repertoire
• A new Basic plan, cheaper than Pro: auto-scroll, a metronome locked to the song's beat, tempo from half to double speed, play-along with the record, and separate tracks
• A plan table that says plainly what each one gives you
• Fixes: My Songs no longer opens with an error; restoring purchases tells you what it found; prices now read the way you write them
1.0.96 Sep 22
Ready when you are: turn notifications on and the app tells you the moment a transcription or a set of tabs is finished. Tap the notice and the song opens on the right view. There is a switch for it in Settings.
Your own recordings now export too - TXT, PDF or Guitar Pro, melody or part.
Fixes: a personal upload keeps its own instrument when you switch to the melody, Retry really asks again, and a melody no longer waits forever for a part that failed.
1.0.94 Sep 18
Melody and part: two kinds of tab for guitar, ukulele and piano. The melody opens by default - the song's tune on a single line. Your own uploads get instruments and both kinds too. Tapping a bar plays on, auto-scroll waits after you scroll by hand, and the words line up under the bars. Export carries the melody and the part. Search no longer rewrites band names, and the clear button is easier to hit.
1.0.91 Sep 17
• Strumming patterns on fast songs now suggest a relaxed half-time feel first — easier to play along
• Steadier strum timing in songs with an uneven intro
• Song imports no longer get stuck when processing is slow
• Fixed several crashes: leaving the YouTube import screen, opening tabs, and picking an audio file on iPhone
1.0.89 Sep 15
- Swipe between views: the song now slides under your finger, and a swipe from the left edge takes you back.
- Links to art-guitar.app songs open right in the app, and the song's link can be shared from the Export menu.
- Smoother playback while changing tempo, and a YouTube video no longer gets stuck loading after a long stay in Tabs.
1.0.87 Sep 15
• Cleaner tab notation: no stray rests, quick strikes shown as grace notes
• The bar you're paused on is now marked, so you always know where play resumes
• Tapping a bar plays it and leaves the position at its start
1.0.83 Sep 14
• Free trial of Gituar Pro
• Faster launch, no more white screen
• Search shows only songs with a video
• Import limit is now shown right in the preview
• Fixed "video unavailable" in the preview on older phones
1.0.79 Sep 10
• New song editor: bars, beats and words on one timeline, chords you can drag, AI check with your own lyrics
• Publish your corrections to the shared library, including songs from My Songs
• Bug fixes and improvements
1.0.74 Sep 10
• YouTube import: a preview with a scrub bar before importing — make sure it's the right recording.
• A mixer for the synth: tabs, strum, vocals and metronome levels; sources are levelled.
• The metronome runs in sync with the tab synth and stands out clearly.
• "Fewer finger moves" is now on the tab toolbar; fingerings are friendlier.
• Strum: a new "By the guitar" pattern and sixteenth-note patterns.
• iPhone fixes: no video starting in the background, no synth going silent.
1.0.66 Sep 7
New:
• Export a song as text (TXT), PDF or Guitar Pro (GP5) — chords over the lyrics, or a tab with your capo and tempo. (Pro)
• Play along with the vocals: the tab synth or the strum pattern over the song's own vocal track, switchable while it plays and following the metronome's tempo. (Pro)
• The capo, said out loud: the reader suggests a fret that opens the chords up, lays the tab out for it, and keeps "Fewer finger moves" on by default.
• A clearer reader: the view you are in is named and the others explained, the metronome rides on the transport bar, and text size moved into the View sheet.
Fixed:
• Lists no longer crash on an artist whose name starts with an emoji.
• A YouTube video that is slow to open no longer takes the app down with it.
1.0.61 Sep 5
• Capo, worked out for you. Tabs now say which capo the recording was played with, and songs without a tab get a capo suggested whenever it turns barre chords into open shapes. It becomes the song's default; change it any time under Key.
• Tabs that follow your capo and key. Change the capo or transpose, and the strings and frets are laid out again to match, not just the chord names.
• "Fewer finger moves." A new option under Key, on by default, that picks strings so a finger that's already down can stay down instead of hopping along one string.
• Play the tab. When the tab's own sound is playing, or the video can't be shown, you get a full playback bar with seeking, just like for the video.
• A clearer reader. One "View" chip names the current mode and explains what Reading, Karaoke, Bars and Tab show, and why a mode isn't available for a song. Text size lives there too. A short first-time tour points out the essentials.
• Tab and strum at a glance. Compact "Tab", "Strum" and "Capo" chips under the title, with the strum panel opening right below them.
• Separation preview. The mixer is now "Separation" and, for YouTube songs, shows the tracks a local recording would be split into.
• The metronome click is available on every song, including plain chord sheets.
• Tab generation is about three times faster.
• Many small fixes: the video no longer restarts when switching between the recording and the tab sound, the play controls sit tidier, and your choices are remembered per song.
1.0.55 Sep 3
Fixes:
• The metronome no longer goes silent on YouTube songs after you play a tab.
• Switching between the recording and the tab keeps the video playing instead of reloading it.
• Starting the strum pattern no longer reloads the video and loses your place.
• A file with no music in it — a lecture or a stream — is now refused up front, and doesn't count against your limit.
1.0.53 Sep 2
GUITAR AND KEYS, ON THEIR OWN TRACKS
The mixer now separates six parts instead of four: vocals, drums, bass, guitar, keys and everything else. Solo the guitar to hear exactly what the player is doing, or take it out and play it yourself. Songs separated before this update get the two new tracks as they are refreshed — until then their rows sit greyed out.
TABS WRITTEN FROM THE GUITAR ITSELF
Because the guitar now has a track of its own, that is what a tab is transcribed from, instead of everything the named parts left behind. Songs that could not produce a playable tab before can now.
Every mixer row also has its own instrument, so you can see what a slider silences before you move it.
Plus fixes: an imported song can no longer lose the video it plays from, and a few songs that got stuck without a tab have one.
1.0.52 Sep 1
TABS AND NOTATION
Songs can now be written out for guitar: tablature and standard notation together, chords over the staff, and the bar you are hearing lit up as it plays. Tap a bar to start from there, or switch to the synthesised guitar to hear the part on its own.
STRUMMING PATTERNS
Art Guitar listens to the drums and suggests how to strum the song, beat by beat, at whatever tempo you practise at.
Plus a faster reader, steadier highlighting while you play, and the usual round of fixes.
