The App Store page is now in Norwegian, so the app is easier to find for anyone searching in their own language. And the repair from the last version stands: photographs can no longer go missing from a plant, and paths that have moved are mended on launch.

Italian — the tenth language. And a fix that matters. In certain circumstances a photograph could be removed from a plant when the app was updated. This version stops that, and puts back what it can still find. If pictures have gone missing from your garden, they are not lost: they are in any backup of your phone made before it happened. Install this version first, then restore from that backup, and they come back where they belong. Also here: • Your chosen language is no longer discarded on launch if it is French, Polish, Finnish or Italian • A lawn is a plant too. Add one, and it is treated as what it actually is — a meadow you keep cutting — with the advice that helps the life living in it • Garden Guests: the heroes now have departments, shifts and a place they work. You can search them, and add the ones you have seen yourself • Harvest logging is offered only where there is something to harvest

Nine languages, and a gardener who tells you what to do about the deer. Now in French, Polish and Finnish — alongside Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, English, German and Dutch. The language you read is separate from the country your garden is in, so a Norwegian on the Costa Blanca gets Spanish weather and Norwegian words. Shut it out. Against a roe deer there is no such thing as safe removal. So you are now told the mesh width, the height, how far out from the trunk — and, more to the point, the deadline. A vole guard goes on before the first snow; if you are late, the ringing happens underneath it where nobody can see. That deadline becomes a reminder in the right month. The partner it cannot fruit without. Many apples, plums and sea buckthorns set no fruit at all from their own pollen. The app has always said so. Now the requirement goes onto your wish list with one tap, because it is a thing to buy and the deadline is "before you plant". Hard to kill. For anyone standing in front of an empty garden. A short list of plants that survive being forgotten — in your country, in your kind of garden — and it costs no action at all. Each one also tells you the single way you can still kill it. Tell it what you already know. Before you press identify, say what you think it is. Type "plum tree" and the question stops being whether it is a plum tree and becomes which plum tree. And the things only you know. Write your own tasks and your own shopping items. Give a task a month and it becomes a reminder like any other. Also in this release: search and ordering for garden guests, watering reminders that notice the rain, and a plant page rebuilt into four clear sections. Fixed: an issue where refreshing a plant's care advice could clear its year wheel, a loading state that could continue indefinitely, and several places where the same action appeared as two different buttons.

The garden has staff, and most of it has never been thanked. Garden Guests is a new tab, and it opens on your side of the ledger: eleven creatures that eat the things eating your plants. Who is on shift this month, what each one actually does, and what you can do for them. One of them is Employee of the Month. Also new: • Greenhouses and allotments are gardens in their own right now, and the advice knows the difference. Two kilos of tomatoes on the eleventh; each season keeps its own total, and a tree shows what it has given since you started counting. • Soil, at last — acid, chalk, clay. The commonest way to lose a plant, after watering it wrong. • A wish list for the plant you found but could not take home yet. • Companion planting, and which tree your tree cannot fruit without. • Put the plants in the order you want them. • Give yourself a name.
