Loopcam is a camera for tiny looping videos — gif loops. A 2026 rebuild of the 2011 original.
Record a loop, dress it up with filters and stickers, and post it. Follow friends to see their loops, tap LOL on the ones you love, and talk in the comments.
• Shoot short looping videos with a tap
• Filters and a pile of stickers
• A feed of loops from people you follow
• Explore to find new people
• LOLs, comments, and follows
• Share loops anywhere with the share sheet
Loopcam first lived on the App Store 2011–2014. This is its revival — the same idea, rebuilt for today's iPhone.
more Sharing to Instagram Stories now sends a full-height portrait loop with filters over the whole picture. The trim screen now plays audio, imported clips can be up to 30 seconds long, and posted loops no longer play in the background.

Stitching silent loops now works, and shared GIFs play as animations instead of still frames when sent to other apps.

The filter strip is open every time you open the camera, so the filters are in view from the start instead of behind their button.
The Wave filter is now called Wave2Donk. Two of its words have changed: the donk sound writes "Donk!" into the picture, and the win jingle writes "XP!".
0.1.12 Sep 7
The Wave filter is now first in the filter strip, and it is on when you open the camera. Wave answers a hand held up to the camera with a sound: a boing, a donk, a honk, a win jingle, or a quack, in turn, for as long as the hand stays up.
Each sound now also writes its word into the picture—"Boing!", "Error!", "Horn!", "Win!", or "Quack!"—in a small pixel font in one of the corners. The word shows in the viewfinder when the hand is answered, changes place and size each time, and blinks twice as it goes out.
Subtitle words now vary in size from word to word.
A new filter called Chamber is third in the strip. It puts your loop inside the thick gold frame of the Sweden Chamber of Commerce · Skanstull, complete with the crest in the top right, light passing over the gold, and gold confetti coming down when you start recording.

The Wave filter reacts to hands. Show an open palm, a point, or a thumbs-up, and it plays a boing, a donk, a honk, a win jingle, or a quack. Hold your hand up to keep them coming twice a second, or drop and raise it again for an immediate response. Hands holding a phone are ignored so filming in a mirror will not set it off. The picture is untouched, and the loop's audio dips so the sound lands on top. Plug in headphones to hear it live while you shoot.
Subtitles come in three looks now: plain white, a blue pixel face inside a white outline, and a coarse blackletter. Captions are sharper than before, as adding them or a sound no longer squeezes the loop through a lower-quality encoder.

A new filter called Boing adds sound to motion. Whenever a hand enters the frame, a spring sound plays, choosing from six variations. Waving at the camera gets answered every time, while the picture stays untouched. With headphones in, you hear the springs live in the viewfinder while shooting.
Subtitles now come in three styles: plain white text, a blue pixel-terminal font inside a white outline, and a coarse blackletter face. The last two give captions an image-macro look. Text and loops are also sharper, as adding captions or sound no longer squeezes the video through a lower-quality encoder.

Photos can be loops now. Pick a few from your library and Loopcam makes a slideshow of them — the frame drifts across each photo and dissolves into the next, and the last one dissolves back into the first, so it loops the way everything here does.

Blockchain timestamp, from the share sheet. Ask for it on a loop and a fingerprint of it goes into a Bitcoin block — the video itself never goes on a chain — so the date on the loop stops being Loopcam's word.
The proof stands next to the loop: the block number on the loop's own page, a quiet mark in the feed. Anyone can check it with the standard OpenTimestamps client, without asking us.
Loops brought in from the 2013 archive no longer show a date they were never posted on.

Settings and Find People moved to the feed, the screen the app opens on.
Find People now opens on everyone: the whole of Loopcam, listed alphabetically, narrowed as you type.
Sign Out sits with the account list it acts on.
Explore tiles that used to stay grey now load. A poster keeps downloading even when you scroll past it.

Private accounts: keep your loops for approved followers. Following a private account sends a request, and you decide who gets in — from the notification itself or from Settings.
Several accounts on one phone, switched from Settings without signing out or typing a password again.
Loops are encoded at five times the bitrate, so the GIF look stays crisp instead of smearing.
Save a loop to Photos straight from the review screen.

Loops from your camera roll: pick a video, choose the part that loops, and it lands in the same review screen a recorded one does.
Filters and stickers can now be put on, swapped or taken off AFTER you record — Darood's flash included.
Several of your own loops can go up as one: stitch them on your profile, then post the montage to Loopcam.
Save a loop to Photos without posting it.
Deep Fog rolls and folds like real smoke.

Anti-Shock: electronic image stabilisation.
Filters stack with a tap — no long press.
Darood now works on the front camera.
Comments appear under the loop in the feed.
0.1.3 Aug 14
Stack filters. Long press one in the strip, then tap more — they layer in the order you pick them, up to ten.
Darood: a strobe. The torch plays four short flashes and a fifth held twice as long, on a loop, at full brightness.
Koaxial: Öppna's tape damage, harder, with no channel logo and nothing done to your voice.
Bob: a new colour grade — lifted blacks, cool shadows, a gentle curve.
Spy now creeps in while it records, and its vignette is softer.
Subtitles can be marked up as a conversation: tap the words the other person says and they turn green, with the option to disguise their voice.
Music playing on your phone no longer stops when you open the camera.
Fixes: filters no longer stay on after you leave the camera, choosing a filter no longer pauses the picture on a fresh install, the first-run instructions point at the right buttons, and a failed take can no longer leave its sound behind in the next one.
0.1.2 Aug 14
Two new filters. Öppna puts the channel logo on your loop over Für Elise, with MiniDV tape damage and VHS noise drifting through the picture. Negativ inverts it.
Ding Dong. Ring someone's doorbell from their profile — they get a push, a chime and a row in News.
Face stickers that follow your expression.
Subtitles can now be reopened and edited after you generate them, as many times as you like.
Speech is clearer everywhere: every recording now goes through a normalizer and a compressor.
Instagram Story exports no longer loop when the original is 4 seconds or longer.
Fixes: sound stays on your AirPods after publishing, sharing from a link no longer crashes, and LØL'd loops open properly.
