On first launch, Datto now opens straight into creating your first event instead of showing an empty list. After you save your first event, a one-time guide shows how to add the widget to your Home Screen (not shown if you already have one).

While you're creating your first event, Datto no longer interrupts with the Pro screen. Tap Category or Reminders and you can still save first; Pro is shown once, afterwards. When you've reached the free limit of 3 events, a quiet line at the end of the list points to Pro. Nothing pushed, just a place to go.

When you turn on a milestone reminder while notifications are turned off for Datto, the app now tells you right there, with a link to Settings. Until now the reminder looked as though it had been set, and nothing ever arrived.

For Datto Pro owners: when the app couldn’t check your purchase — in Airplane Mode, or when you weren’t signed in to the App Store — it could temporarily fall back to the free layout. It now keeps your Pro features while it can’t check. When a purchase or restore didn’t go through, nothing appeared on screen. Datto now tells you the result either way. To help improve the app, Datto now sends anonymous usage only — which screens you opened. It never includes your event names, your name, or your email address. You can turn it off any time under Settings › Privacy.

Datto now has a dark appearance. Choose it under “Theme” in Settings — match your device, or keep it light or dark. With Datto Pro, your events can now sync over iCloud. The same days appear on every device signed in to the same Apple Account, and something you delete on one device stays deleted on the other.

You can now group your events into categories — work, family, trips — and switch the list between them. Deleting a category never deletes the events inside it; they simply go back to being uncategorised.

We refreshed the App Store page. The first screenshot now shows the widget on the Home Screen, and the description opens with what Datto is actually for: you don't have to open it to see how many days are left. No changes to the app itself.
