Anneal: Progressive Overload

Auto-progression, explained

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Stronger every week, by design. Anneal plans every set, knows which muscles are still sore, and now uses the whole iPad screen with a sidebar and side-by-side views. Anneal is the strength trainer whose engine progresses you, and shows its work. Most workout apps hand you a plan, then go quiet. Anneal keeps progressing you, knows which muscles are still sore, and tells you why a weight moved. EVERY LIFT KNOWS ITS NEXT STEP A deterministic, evidence-based engine (linear, double progression, DUP) sets the weight and reps for your program and generated sessions. Loaded lifts you add to any workout progress too. Finish and the summary shows next time's targets, lift by lift. IT ADJUSTS WHILE YOU TRAIN Rate a set's effort and that lift's remaining sets adjust: a grinder eases the load, an easy set nudges it up, always within tight bounds. One tap undoes it. IT KNOWS WHAT'S STILL SORE Every set you log shows on a muscle recovery map: fatigued, recovering, or fresh. After a session, a five second check-in shares its guess. Confirm or correct it, and Anneal learns how fast your muscles recover. IT ADAPTS TO HOW RECOVERED YOU ARE Anneal reads heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and sleep from Apple Health to estimate today's readiness. With Pro, a low score trims load and volume, and a rough day reshapes the session: main lifts go light, accessories become mobility, and you see what changed, before and after. This data never leaves your device. NO BLACK BOX, EVER Tap any prescribed set and see the rule that fired and the data behind it. A weekly changelog lists what the engine changed: progressions, deloads, and new PRs. SEE WHERE YOU'RE HEADED Progress charts each lift's estimated 1RM and your bodyweight trend. Pro's 8-week forecast runs the same engine forward: an expected range, the likely deload week, and what changes if you train more often. Set a Goal Lift and see a projected date. BUILD YOUR OWN PROGRAM Pick the days, lifts, and how each progresses, or save a finished workout as a routine. Skip the starting weights: the first session finds them. Free keeps one custom program or routine, Pro is unlimited. Templates are always free: linear progression, push/pull/legs, upper/lower, and a GZCL-inspired tiered program. LIFE HAPPENS. ANNEAL PLANS FOR IT. Away mode shrinks your weekly target, keeps days away off your streak and Trials, and quiets notifications. Back after 10 days or more? Weights ramp you back in. YOUR DATA IS YOURS, AND IT COMES WITH YOU Switching from Strong, Hevy or Fitbod? Import their CSV and pick up where you left off. No account needed. Your data stays on your device by default, and CSV export is always free. IT WORKS WITH THE GYM YOU ACTUALLY HAVE Profile any gym with your real plates and dumbbells. A coverage report shows which muscles you can fully train, and ranks what to buy next. BUILT AGAINST BURNOUT No daily streak, no guilt copy. Set a weekly target, and prescribed rest days count toward it. Trials are fixed arcs of 28 to 75 days, with optional vows. Nothing ever resets you to day one. IPAD, APPLE WATCH AND SIRI On iPad, a sidebar and side-by-side columns show your session, recovery, and progress at once. On Apple Watch: your next set, a haptic rest timer, and adjustable reps and weight, free on every plan. Ask Siri to log a set, start your workout, skip rest, or say what's next. HONEST PRICING Every new install starts with 14 days of full access: every Pro feature, free, no signup, no card. Then choose. Free keeps the full logger, every template program, one custom program or routine, live RPE adjustments, 90 days of analytics history, and unlimited export. Pro adds workout generation, readiness adjustments and reshaping, unlimited custom programs, the 8-week forecast, pain and soreness patterns, full history, and optional cloud sync. Monthly, yearly, or once for lifetime. Cancel in two taps. Anneal does not use AI to write your program. It runs published, testable rules, the same every time. Anneal 2.1 is redesigned for iPad. A sidebar keeps Workout, Progress, Body, Forge and You one tap away, and each section now uses the big screen in two columns: today's session beside your week, the recovery map beside the exact numbers, your progress beside your recent bests. History and Settings show the list and the detail side by side, and lists and forms keep a comfortable reading width. With a keyboard, Command 1 to 5 switches sections, Command Y opens History, and Command comma opens Settings. On iPhone, everything works as before.
