Fifteen synthesised engines turn typing rhythm into throttle, shifts, and momentum — all generated in real time. Redline turns typing anywhere on your Mac into an engine soundtrack. Start typing in any app and it fires up. Hold a rhythm and it climbs through the gears. Push past your usual pace and it drops a gear and runs for the redline. Stop, and it winds down through its last few firings. Ordinary typing cruises around 2,000 to 3,000 rpm. Sustained work earns the top of the tachometer. GENERATED IN REAL TIME Redline contains no sampled engine recordings. It generates its audio while you type. A crank angle turns at engine speed. Each cylinder dumps a combustion pulse into its exhaust bank at its own firing angle. Each bank is modelled as a pipe with its own length and resonance. What comes out the other end is the sound. That model gives a cross-plane V8 its burble and a flat-plane V8 its scream. Engine speed stays continuous without sampled RPM layers. DRIVER-SEAT RESPONSE The cabin mix follows the work at your hands. Induction arrives as resonant intake pulses that build under load, without a constant wind or blower track. A micro-pause eases the virtual pedal and adds a trace of overrun. Redline deliberately treats every key-down as the same anonymous driving input. SET YOUR FULL-AT WPM Sensitivity shows the typing speed that counts as full throttle. Set it just above your usual pace so normal work cruises comfortably and a deliberate push has somewhere to go. Rev range then decides how long the transmission holds each gear. BUILD YOUR OWN The Garage lets you tune operating range, exhaust, combustion, induction, and cabin output while the engine runs. Cylinder count, layout, and firing pattern stay visible as read-only facts for the selected preset. Save a tune and it joins the engine list. Saved engines are local JSON files you can edit or write from scratch. JSON also gives you access to cylinder and firing data. SEE IT WITHOUT LOOKING An optional top-of-screen display shows words per minute and rev level at a glance. Add a dim odometer line when you want lifetime progress, or keep the default compact WPM-only view. On a Mac with a physical notch it fits that hardware; on other Macs it becomes a compact cockpit pill. The main instrument draws the engine's firing order as a live diagram. An odometer counts up the distance you have covered. It never resets. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Redline uses Apple's public aggregate session event counter. It can tell only that the number of key-down events increased. It cannot determine which key was pressed, what text was entered, which app received it, or whether the text was private. It installs no keyboard event tap. Redline does not request Input Monitoring or Accessibility access. It has no accounts, analytics, advertising, or third-party purchase SDK.
