HearthWire turns the computers, phones, tablets and televisions in one home into a single network you can see and use. There is no account, no server and no subscription, and nothing at all leaves the house. Open the app and the household appears: every device that is switched on, and the folders each one has chosen to share. Tap a computer and read it like your own. Photos, films, documents and music stay where they are and arrive on your screen as you look at them, so a phone with no room left can still browse a library of any size. WHAT IT DOES • Browse the shared folders of every computer at home • Play films straight from another machine, with nothing downloaded first • Send messages and files to one person or to the whole house • Call another device by voice, over your own network • Watch a computer's screen, and take control of it when that computer allows it • Share your own photos and folders back, while the app is open • Send anything to the house from another app, through the share sheet FILMS PLAY, WHATEVER THEY ARE A family library is full of files an iPhone will not open. HearthWire carries its own player, so MKV, AVI, MOV, MP4 and the rest begin at once, with their sound and their subtitles, and nothing is ever copied onto the device. PRIVATE BECAUSE OF HOW IT IS BUILT There is no cloud account to create and no company in the middle. The devices find each other on your own network and speak to each other directly, encrypted. Unplug the house from the internet and everything here still works. Messages live only on the two devices that sent and received them, and calls are never recorded. ONE PRICE Bought once, for iPhone and iPad together. No subscription, no advertising, nothing to sign up for. HearthWire speaks nine languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Japanese. Sharing to HearthWire from another app now asks which device it is for, and tells you when it will arrive. Also fixed: after watching a computer's screen or playing a film, the folders this device shares could quietly stop being visible to the rest of the house. They stay now.
