Compare text in two text-based PDF or Word files and save a redline PDF: deletions struck in red, insertions underlined in blue. Files stay on your Mac.
Overstrike shows you exactly what changed between two versions of a document, and gives you a redline PDF you can send to anyone.
Deleted text is struck through in red. Inserted text is underlined in blue. It is the markup lawyers, contract managers, editors, and grant writers already read, and it prints correctly in black and white.
WHAT IT DOES

HOW IT WORKS
1. Drop the earlier version into Original and the newer one into Revised.
2. Press Compare Documents.
3. Press Save Redline PDF and choose where to put it.
That saved PDF is the thing you send. Nobody needs Overstrike to open it.
BUILT FOR CONFIDENTIAL WORK
Your documents are read on your Mac, compared on your Mac, and never uploaded anywhere. Overstrike talks to the network only through StoreKit for Apple purchases, and your documents are never part of that. There is no account, no sign-in, and no cloud processing. Overstrike keeps no record of which documents you compared.
PURCHASES
Monthly Core is required for comparison and PDF export and renews monthly until canceled. Pro Tools is a separate one-time purchase for the four tools listed above. Pro Tools stays owned, but requires active Monthly Core to work. Prices are shown by the App Store. No per-document charges.
GOOD TO KNOW
Overstrike compares the text of two documents. A scanned page is a picture, so run text recognition on it first. The redline is a clean re-typeset of the words rather than a copy of the original page layout, which is what makes long changes readable in one continuous document.
The original and revised file names appear in the saved redline PDF for provenance.
Word comments, tracked-change markup, text boxes, images, and layout objects are not compared. Accept or reject tracked changes first, then compare the resulting text.
