New in 1.0.8 — the Service Record. Every session now counts: your runs, your hours, and your best scores, read straight out of each cartridge's own battery save. Sixty-nine medals across the twelve games, including each game's own ladder — stages, depots, walls, boards — tracked from its own save file. Earned means earned forever. Also: sharper session tracking and small fixes throughout. Still no accounts, no ads, no tracking — and after the version check, everything plays fully offline.

THE SERVICE RECORD - A new Record screen off the library: runs, time on the clock, and your best score per game, read from each cartridge's own battery table. - Thirty-six medals, three per game — a score to reach, a deeper one, and one that falls to time. Earned is earned forever. SIDINGS - The yard sits in a girder-framed well instead of floating in black. SKIP STOP - The night has stars in it now — scattered, not tiled, two pixels a cell. CROSSOVER - Ballast between the running lines, so the yard reads as gravel rather than a blank screen. The track your crews lay draws over it as the round is played. UPDATES - The app can now tell you when a newer version exists. One version check at launch; if there is no connection, the games start immediately, as always.

More stage, more shape, more reason to look before you leap. SKIP STOP - Forty stages rather than eight. Every one is proved playable before it ships, and the proof caught two of the original eight opening with a rat two cells from the start — both now guard the crossings instead. CLEARANCE - Some walls have a shape now: a channel, an arch, teeth, a vault. Landmarks among the rubble, not just tougher rubble. NIGHT SHIFT - Depots have a grain — some run in long avenues, some in short stacked corridors — and shortcut loops thin out as the depots advance, so escape routes dry up just as the third engine arrives. THIRD RAIL - On the wider ledges the lamp is sometimes guarded: a spark patrolling the same ledge, so taking it is a matter of timing the landing. DWELL - Trains alternate ends. A sweep from the right is a different judgement, not the same one mirrored. POINTS - Some single-line engineering works now run three rows deep, so the line stops sharing one rhythm.

A solid head in Clearance, safer stage starts in Third Rail, and a bigger picture in landscape. CLEARANCE - The tamping head is solid everywhere it is drawn. The cutter could touch it and pass straight through into the floor, because only the middle of the cutter was being tested against it and the cutter is wider than that. - The drops are no longer all presents. Two of the six crimp the head to half its width or cost you a crew, so a falling one is now worth a look before you break off and chase it. The bad ones are arrows and a saltire against four solid shapes, so which is which reads at a glance. THIRD RAIL - The sparks no longer kill you the moment a stage begins. One could walk off the right-hand edge of the screen, reappear on the left, and arrive at the start from behind — on stages whose spark was placed nine cells away and walking in the other direction. Every stage is now checked before it ships: none can reach the start inside the first second and a half. CONTROLS AND PICTURE - The game draws bigger in landscape. On most phones it gains a whole step; on some it had been smaller sideways than upright, which was the wrong way round for a 4:3 picture. - The d-pad and buttons are smaller in both orientations, so less of the screen is controls and more of it is the game. The touch areas are unchanged. CROSSOVER - The title screen now says what it takes to win a match: first to three.

A twelfth game, longer runs, and a lot more track. NEW GAME - Skip Stop. One button, one jump arc, and a platform that keeps moving out from under it. LONGER RUNS - Five attempts instead of three in Clearance, Metro Rush, Night Shift, Third Rail and Skip Stop, and five strikes instead of three in Dwell. The layouts, ramps and speeds are untouched — a run just lasts long enough to get going. NIGHT SHIFT - The inspector no longer walks into the walls. Collecting a lamp could leave the game checking the wrong side of the depot, so a turn you asked for was sometimes taken straight into brickwork. - The opening depots are no longer the whole game at once. You start against a single slow engine; a second joins on depot five, and all three by depot thirteen. Later depots are unchanged. SIDINGS - Sixteen levels rather than eight. - The other half of the piece set. Half the arrivals the game was built to deal could never actually appear, and two of the four wagon classes could never arrive as a matching pair — the easiest piece the game has to give. INTERCHANGE - Two hundred boards, and a top row that fits their numbers. DEEP LINE - The tunnel commits to something now. A stretch of it holds one idea — a climb, a dive, a chamber opening out, a pinch closing in — instead of wandering a column at a time. POINTS - Four times as much line before the track starts repeating itself. THROUGHOUT - More levels in Clearance, Headshunt, Interchange, Night Shift and Third Rail. - Deep Line, Metro Rush, Dwell and Crossover now show the level you have reached.

The first update since launch. Better scores, a choice of controls, and a long list of fixes to how the games actually play. SCORES WORTH CHASING - Every game keeps its best three scores instead of one, so there is always a next target rather than a record you either hold or don't. - Beat one and the game says so on the screen you are already looking at. - Dwell had been saving a score since launch with nowhere to show it. A THUMBSTICK, IF YOU WANT ONE - Pause and pick D-pad or Stick. The stick sets the same four directions but lets you swing between them without lifting off. Your choice is remembered. - A push to the right on the controls is no longer mistaken for a swipe back to the menu. CLEARANCE - The cutter no longer slips through a wall or reappears on the far side of the screen. It bounces off the face of a brick, where it should. - Later walls are denser, carry more tough brick, and the cutter speeds up. - Things work loose from a broken course: a wider head, a slower cutter, a relief crew, or a cutter that takes tough brick out in one strike. INTERCHANGE - The set runs all the way through its hundred boards. It had been ending after the first. - Boards grow larger and more tangled, there is a par to beat, and finishing quickly pays. HEADSHUNT, THIRD RAIL, NIGHT SHIFT - Headshunt has a par for every yard, and matching it scores. - Third Rail: take the last lamp on a stage and you keep the hard hat, which is worth one mistake. - Finishing a maze, a yard or a stage is marked on screen instead of passing in silence. METRO RUSH, DWELL, DEEP LINE, POINTS, CROSSOVER - Gentler openings and slower ramps, so the first minute is playable while the later ones still bite. - Crossover tightens its pace with every match you win. FIXES - Leaving a game and opening another could leave both running, with two soundtracks playing at once. - A startup failure showed a blank screen with no explanation. - The on-screen buttons and menus now give haptic feedback.
