Another app just changed your interface to 48 kHz? ClockGuard notices in milliseconds and puts your rate back — and never mid-take, so a session is never interrupted.

Open a video call, launch a plugin, let a browser tab play something — and your audio interface is suddenly at 48 kHz when your session runs at 44.1. macOS lets any app change a shared device's sample rate, and it offers no way to lock one.
ClockGuard cannot change that, and does not pretend to. What it does is watch the devices you care about and act the instant one of them moves: it detects the change and restores your rate in milliseconds.
Never mid-take. While a device is playing or recording, ClockGuard never rewrites its rate — a rate change mid-session causes a dropout. It alerts you instead, and restores your target the moment the device is free. A take is never ruined by ClockGuard.
It tells you who, and how sure it is. macOS has no API that says which app wrote a rate, so ClockGuard reasons about it: who joined the audio system, who attached to the device, who started playing around the moment of the change. Every answer is presented as a likely culprit with a confidence level — high, medium or low — and when the evidence points nowhere it says "Unknown writer" instead of blaming somebody.
It knows when to back off. If an app keeps re-asserting its rate, ClockGuard stops fighting: one grouped alert, then silence, and your target comes back when things calm down.
Your DAW is allowed. Put apps on the allowlist and their rate changes are logged and left alone.
No access to your audio. Ever. ClockGuard reads and sets device properties through CoreAudio — the sample rate, nothing else. It never captures audio, never asks for microphone permission, and sends nothing anywhere. It is sandboxed, and the only entitlement it requests is the App Sandbox itself.

Requires macOS 14.2 or later. Naming the likely writer uses CoreAudio's audio-client information, available on macOS 14.4 and later; on 14.2 and 14.3 everything else works and writers are reported as unknown.
