A journal that asks first

A blank page is hard. A question isn't. In the evening a few questions come to you, and in the answering you find out what you were thinking. Free for 14 days.
A blank page is hard. A question isn't. Answer a few, and somewhere in the answering you find out what you were thinking. And the words stay. Read them back a week later and they tell you something you didn't know you knew.
SIT AND BREATHE
There are two ways to settle: your breath, and your words. A single circle fills and empties in the middle of the screen. Breathe along with it for five minutes, or twenty. On the days there's nothing to write, let this be the whole of it. Add the sound of rain or the sea, and end on a soft bell.
IN THE EVENING, YOU ARE ASKED
"At the end of the day, what heaviness or lightness does your body feel?" "What brought warmth to your heart today?" A few questions come to you. Answering is enough — there's no need to write well. Somewhere in the answering, things sort themselves out.
FOR THE NIGHTS YOU DON'T WAIT TO BE ASKED
Start talking whenever you like. The nights sleep won't come. The thought that keeps circling. Being allowed to finish a sentence is often all it takes for the shape to appear.
READ IT BACK, A WEEK LATER
Once a week, the answers you gave come back together. This is the heart of the app. That you said the same thing four times. That the way you said it quietly changed. Nobody points it out — you see it yourself.
QUESTIONS WITH NO ANSWER
The questions get deeper. Keep going and a day comes when you'd rather be asked about yourself than about your day. All 248 of them: the Gateless Gate's 48, the Blue Cliff Record's 100, the Book of Serenity's 100. Joshu's Dog. Nansen Cuts the Cat. Take one and carry it for a while. There's nothing to get right.
WE DON'T DECIDE WHAT IT MEANS
When you finish, a few words come back. Never "here is what that says about you." Just one question toward something you might not have looked at yet, and one concrete thing you can actually touch right now. No analysis, no grading, no cheering. And it doesn't have to be every day — the words stay whether or not you come back tomorrow.
For the first 14 days everything is open — just make an account, no card. Two weekly look-backs arrive in that time. After that, breathing and the evening journal stay free for good. Dokusan, the weekly look-back, the koans and the journal reflections are part of Unsui Pro.
