NY Exam: Parent & Tutor
Practice exams & score reports
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Assign a practice exam, and read a report that explains every wrong answer.
Built for parents and tutors preparing New York students.
NY Exam is the app parents and private tutors use to run practice exams — and to understand what came back.
Your student sits the test in the separate NY Exam Student app. You stay here: you choose the exam, you set the conditions, and the moment they finish you get the report.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Keep a roster of students, each with their own tests, scores and history
• Assign an exam in two taps, and see what it costs before you spend anything
• Read a report on every sitting: each question, what your student chose, what the answer was, and why it was wrong
• Watch a student's scores move over time, and see which topics keep costing them marks
• Give a student a nine-character passcode — no email address and no password for a child to remember
• Record parental consent against each student before anything is assigned
• Archive students who have finished, without losing a single report
THE EXAMS
• SHSAT — New York City's specialized high schools
• TACHS and HSPT — Catholic high school entrance
• New York State tests, grades 3 through 8
Practice material written by us, in the format and at the length of the real thing.
HOW IT IS PAID FOR
Credits, not a subscription. You buy a pack, and credits never expire. One exam costs five credits and covers your first student; adding the same exam to another student costs one more. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel.
BUILT FOR THE JOB
• Face ID to open the app, and to sign in without typing your password
• A notification when a student finishes a test
• Works on iPhone and iPad, with a wide layout made for a tutor's roster
• Everything lives on your account, not on one device — sign in anywhere and it is all there
ABOUT YOUR STUDENTS' DATA
We collect a student's first name, their answers and their scores. Nothing else. No advertising, no analytics trackers, no profiling. A student cannot read their own score report — reports go to the adult, and that is enforced by our database, not merely by which screen we show. You can delete your account, and everything on it, from inside the app.
NOT AFFILIATED
NY Exam is not affiliated with, and not endorsed by, the New York City Department of Education, the New York State Education Department, the TACHS or HSPT programs, or any testing organization. All practice material is our own and contains no real test questions.
