CoStar: Movie Links

Connect two actors by film

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Two famous actors every day, under the marquee lights. Link them through the films they shared in as few steps as you can, then share your card. Two actors. One chain of films. How short can you make it? CoStar gives you a new pair of performers every day. Link them by stepping through films they actually appeared in: pick a movie, pick a co-star from its cast, and repeat until you reach the target. Fewest films wins. Everyone gets the same pair on the same day, so you can compare with friends and argue about who took the smarter route. PICK HOW FAMOUS Easy deals two household names, the likes of Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson and Dwayne Johnson. Medium goes a little deeper, and Hard opens all two thousand performers. Each tier has its own daily pair, so you compare with friends on the same one. A DAILY PUZZLE THAT TAKES FIVE MINUTES Today's pair, one shot, one score. Build a streak, watch your solve distribution fill in, and turn on a gentle daily reminder if you like. It stays quiet on days you've already played. BROWSE, DON'T GUESS Tap through a performer's real filmography and pick the connection you spot. You don't need to recall co-stars from memory, which means you can actually finish the thing. EXPERT, IF YOU WANT IT Expert hides the filmography and the target score. Search the whole library by name and work it out cold. Your difficulty is recorded with your result, because a challenge nobody can see isn't worth much. STUCK? SEE HOW CLOSE YOU WERE Ask for the answer and CoStar finishes the chain from wherever you stopped, then tells you whether your own route was still on par. You keep your streak. You just don't get a perfect solve. SHARE WITHOUT SPOILERS Send your result as a marquee card showing the pair, your score and your grade, never the films, so friends can still play it fresh. MAKE YOUR OWN CHALLENGE Pick any two people in the library and send the pair to someone. Custom challenges draw from the full roster, so you can be as unfair as you like. TODAY'S PAIR ON YOUR HOME SCREEN Add the widget to see the day's pair and your streak at a glance, on the home screen or the lock screen. EXPLORE NEARLY 5,000 FILMS Wander the whole library by person or by film. Every performer, their credits, and everyone they've worked with, each one a tap away, and every page searchable. Found someone interesting? Start a pair from their page. Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Sigourney Weaver, Samuel L. Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Keanu Reeves and thousands more. BUILT FOR EVERY SCREEN On iPhone it's one tidy column. On iPad, or an iPhone Duo opened up, the puzzle sits on one side and the films and cast on the other, and Explore becomes a list beside whatever you pick. FOURTEEN THEMES Eleven dark, three light. Change it whenever you like. NO ACCOUNTS, NO ADS, NO TRACKING No sign-in, no analytics, nothing collected. Your streak lives on your device. CoStar works offline; it only reaches out about once a week to refresh the film list. Free, with an optional tip if you enjoy it. The film list is curated rather than exhaustive. A complete credits database links almost anyone in two steps through documentaries and talk shows, which would make every puzzle identical. CoStar sticks to well-known theatrical features so the connections are ones you have a fair chance of knowing. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

  • This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.

A new look, and a few things players asked for. • Choose your stars: Easy deals only household names, Medium goes a little deeper, and Hard opens the whole library. Each has its own daily pair. • A home screen and lock screen widget with today's pair and your streak. • Explore is rebuilt: People and Films side by side, A to Z with an index to scrub, search any actor's films and co-stars, and start a pair from anyone's page. • Made for big screens: on iPad and an unfolded iPhone Duo the films and cast sit right beside your chain, so you watch it grow as you pick. • Every daily pair now opens under a ring of marquee lights, with new glass controls and haptics that match what you're doing. • Everyone in the cast has a colour of their own, so you can tell people apart at a glance. • Your chain is drawn as a strip of film, with the year on every title. • Land the link and the stars go up. • Share your result as a picture card. It never names a film, so nobody gets spoiled. • A countdown to tomorrow's pair, and an optional daily reminder that skips days you've already played. • Over 800 more films, including this year's releases, and hundreds more familiar faces in the daily pool. • When you ask for the answer, the chain now runs through the most famous names it can, and walk-on cameos no longer count as shared films. • The old Hard mode is now an Expert switch you can combine with any tier. • Fixes: giving up no longer congratulates you, and the intro now fills the screen.
