The announcer names a random word — and you talk about it until the next one arrives. No preparation, no chosen topic, no time to think an answer through: you have to speak at once, out loud, without pauses for "uhm" and without editing yourself.
After a few sessions something characteristic happens: words stop being invented and start arriving on their own. That moment — when speech runs ahead of thought — is the whole point of verbal improvisation.
Spontanika is a verbal improvisation trainer: an instrument for self-realization and personal development, based on public speaking and improv exercises and on simple techniques for concentrating the attention. Regular speaking practice develops the imagination and mental acuity, builds eloquence and the confidence to think on your feet, and uncovers your creative potential.
A SESSION
• Pick a duration and how often the word changes; twenty minutes with a new word every two is the usual start
• A call-sign warns you of the change, then the word is spoken aloud
• The screen can flash instead, for practising in silence
• Speak until the word changes — the app keeps time for you
WHAT IS INSIDE
• Over a thousand nouns in eleven categories, chosen to form vivid images
• Your own dictionaries, typed in and switched on alongside the bundled ones
• Speech recognition: what you said is kept per word, with your pace and a count of filler words
• Practice history and a streak of consecutive days
• The word and both timers on the lock screen, in a Live Activity
• The full method, with diagrams and examples, right inside the app
• Russian and English: interface, words and method text switch independently
YOUR SPEECH STAYS WITH YOU
No accounts and no server of ours: dictionaries and the method ship inside the app, and sessions, transcripts and settings are kept on your device alone. Speech recognition is done by the phone's own system — some languages on the device, the rest on its servers. The app collects anonymous usage statistics — how long a session ran and how many words it covered — never the words you say.
The verbal improvisation method was devised in 2014 and refined over hundreds of sessions since.
