Use your CLI tools and VS Code Dev Containers with SiliconShip. Build images, run containers and manage local K8s clusters. SiliconShip is a native app for Apple's open source container runtime. Run containers, build images, follow logs, open a shell and create local K8s clusters. The engine, container command and kubectl are included. Each container and cluster node runs in its own virtual machine on Apple silicon. A setup guide with steps you can skip gets a new install ready. CONTAINERS AT A GLANCE See status, CPU and memory allocation, published ports and IP addresses in one list. Start, stop, restart, kill, delete and inspect containers from the toolbar or context menu. Health checks show Starting, Healthy or Unhealthy. Restart policies bring containers back when their process exits. RUN CONTAINERS Choose an image, publish ports, mount folders, individual files or volumes, and set environment variables, resource limits, a restart policy and a health check. COMPOSE PROJECTS Open a Compose file or drop it onto Containers. Review services, profiles and unsupported settings, then start the stack and follow its progress. Services with image builds are built in the app. IMPORT FROM ANOTHER CONTAINER TOOL Import images, containers and user-created networks. Review unsupported settings and tag conflicts first. Imported containers are stopped, volumes are empty and the source is unchanged. K8s CLUSTERS Create a control plane and up to 64 worker nodes, subject to your Mac's resources. Start, stop or delete a cluster and see each node's status, address and ports. Save its kubeconfig or allow the app to update ~/.kube/config. Switch contexts from the K8s screen or menu bar. Load local images into every node without a registry. LOGS Follow live output, search by text or regular expression and see markers between container restarts. A separate boot log helps diagnose startup failures. View, filter and save the engine's own logs, including while it is stopped. AN EMBEDDED SHELL Open a shell inside a running container in the built-in terminal. Full-screen programs adjust when you resize the window. CPU AND MEMORY View CPU charts, memory use and network and disk transfer rates for the selected container, sampled every two seconds while the window is active. IMAGES, VOLUMES, NETWORKS, MACHINES Build images from a folder, follow build output, and manage the builder in Settings. Pull, tag, push, save and load images. Create volumes and see which containers use them. Create networks with a chosen subnet. Containers on the same network can find each other by name. Create persistent VMs and open their shells. FILE TRANSFERS Copy files to and from containers, or drop a file on a container to copy it in. Export a running or stopped container's filesystem as a tar archive. Volumes are not included. KERNEL UPDATES Settings shows the installed and recommended kernel. Download an update when needed. Existing containers keep the kernel they were created with. THE COMMAND LINE Install the bundled container command from Settings. It uses the app's engine, and kubectl works with your clusters. Interactive sessions support Tab completion, arrow keys and full-screen programs. YOUR OWN TOOLS Turn on Settings ▸ CLI to use the command-line tools, Compose and test libraries you already have with SiliconShip, through a socket only your account can use. Their builds run in SiliconShip's builder. FOLDER ACCESS AND PRIVACY The app and engine use the macOS sandbox. Choose folders in permission panels for mounts, builds and file transfers. Each panel names the process that asked. The app remembers your choices, including after a folder is renamed or moved, and for command-line operations. No Full Disk Access is required. No SiliconShip account, analytics or data collection. Requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon. The app downloads the kernel and required images when needed.
