Tabito: Japan Trip Planner
Anime pilgrimage, exact fares

Fares are calculated, not guessed. Where we can't calculate, we say so — including "don't buy that day pass".
On a pilgrimage to Japan, the expensive mistake isn't the flight. It's the plan.
Tabito does one thing: work out everything about your trip that can be, and say so plainly when something can't.
■ It says no
"The Tokyo Metro 24-hour pass is worth it — buy" comes with the arithmetic: "Costs ¥600; this trip uses ¥390, plus 2 legs we can't price but which are at least ¥180 each — so you save at least ¥150."
When it isn't worth it, it says "you'd waste ¥210 — don't buy."
The advice doesn't depend on who pays us, because there are no affiliate links.
■ Calculated and estimated are labelled differently
Transit fares come from real published tariffs and are marked "exact". Lodging and meals are ranges, marked "estimated".
Where no commercially licensed data exists (JR East publishes no open fare data; Odakyu and Keio license theirs for events only; Osaka Metro and Kyoto Municipal Subway prohibit redistribution), we tell you how big the gap is instead of passing an estimate off as a calculation. When not a single leg can be priced, that line reads "can't compute" — not ¥0.
■ Every fact carries a source and a date
The coordinates, opening hours and admission for all 51 spots (Tokyo; Kyoto-Osaka-Nagoya-Toyohashi; Washinomiya; Oarai) each cite their source and the date we last verified it.
Closing days are stated as they really are — including "closed Mondays, except when that Monday is a Japanese public holiday, in which case it opens and closes the next working day instead" — and we name the next closed date outright.
■ Useful while you're actually there
· Which station you're at and where to go next (ordered by earliest closing time, not by nearest — go to the closest first and the early-closing spot never gets visited)
· Ask-for-help board: the Japanese to show someone, your language underneath. Works fully offline
· Reconciliation: what we said the trip would cost against what you actually spent, broken down by category
■ Fares you fill in yourself
For the legs we can't price, you can enter what you paid, and others can vote that they agree.
It is shown separately and marked as user-submitted. It does NOT go into our transit total — that line only holds figures we can compute ourselves.
■ Where your data lives
Itineraries, lists, expenses, photos, camera spots and private notes stay on this device. We can't see them.
Two things leave it, both when you speak up yourself: what you type on the home screen (with the preference summary the AI remembers) goes out to plan your trip, and the screenshot you send with "Identify this place" goes out to be recognised.
The server also holds your credit balance and purchase records — in-app purchases require that.
■ What costs money
Planning, exact fares, "don't buy it" verdicts, the ask-for-help board and reconciliation are FREE forever, no subscription needed.
AI features (photo identification, AI trip planning) spend credits per use. A subscription unlocks nothing — it just makes credits cheaper per unit.
Note: the text inside a spot entry — names, photo captions and coordinate notes — is shown in English. Quotes from official Japanese pages stay in Japanese, because they are transcriptions rather than translations. Japanese place names are kept as they are in every language, so you can match them against the signs on site.
SUBSCRIPTION
Tabito Pro (Monthly) and Tabito Max (Monthly) are auto-renewing subscriptions billed monthly.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews
automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current
period. After purchase you can manage or turn off auto-renew in your Apple ID account settings.

Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
New in 1.6: audio guides.
40 pilgrimage spots now have a short spoken guide: which scene of which work it is, where to stand, and how to find it. Every sentence has a source; the voice is synthesized. Free, no sign-in.
For now the guides are in Mandarin Chinese only. They follow the app's language, so they appear when you choose 简体中文 or 繁體中文 under Me → Language. Other languages aren't ready yet.
Once downloaded, a guide plays without a signal and keeps playing with the screen locked.
If a guide gets something wrong, tell us with "Something here is wrong" at the bottom of the spot's page.
