Trip Cost works out what a car journey will cost you, before you drive it.
Enter your starting point and destination, pick your car, and you immediately see what the fuel or electricity will cost. Useful for splitting travel costs, comparing routes, or simply knowing what you are getting into.
WHAT THE APP DOES
- Calculates journey cost from distance, consumption and current fuel prices
- Looks up Dutch number plates and fills in make, model and consumption automatically
- Works out the route via your start, destination and any stops along the way
- Shows separate prices for filling up on the motorway and away from it
- Handles electric cars too, in kWh and based on charging rates
- Works in litres per 100 km or kilometres per litre, converting automatically
- Remembers your cars and the places you use often
- Available in Dutch, English, German, French, Italian and Polish
FUEL PRICES BY COUNTRY
The app uses the average price in the country you depart from, based on the weekly figures published by the European Commission. Driving abroad means the app uses prices there. You can always enter your own price instead.
ABOUT THE NUMBER PLATE LOOKUP
Automatic lookup works with Dutch number plates only. The Netherlands is the only European country that publishes vehicle data openly; elsewhere this information is not available to apps. Everywhere else, enter your consumption once and the app remembers your car.
REAL-WORLD CONSUMPTION
Manufacturer figures are optimistic. One switch makes the app calculate with a margin closer to what cars actually use.
NO ACCOUNT
Nothing to sign up for and nothing we keep. Your cars, addresses and preferences stay on your phone.
ABOUT THE RESULTS
All amounts are estimates. They are based on averages, and what you actually pay depends on how you drive, the weather, the traffic and the filling station. No rights can be derived from the result.
Travel time assumes the fastest route without traffic delays.

CHARGING PRICES BY COUNTRY
Fast charging costs almost half again as much in Italy as in Spain. The app now uses the rate of the country you depart from, as it already did for fuel.
COST PER KILOMETRE
Each amount now shows what the journey costs per kilometre. Useful for comparing against a mileage allowance.
SPLITTING THE COST
Enter how many people are travelling and see each person's share.

If the vehicle register has no consumption figure for your car, you can now pick economical, average or thirsty instead of having to guess.
